“People have every reason to be angry about this case,” writes judge Jamie Campbell at the beginning of a 38-page decision involving a 17-year-old boy who was involved in the brutal killing of an elderly woman in Dartmouth two years ago.

I could write much about this situation, but I prefer to simply post the entire decision for readers. A bit of warning: there is a description of the killing, as well as the tragic life circumstances of the boy, which some readers may find disturbing.

  1. Tim, I think you have done a great service to the community in providing the link to the judgement. Your decision is very sensible. How can any person describe the issue better than what Judge Jamie Campbell wrote.
Poor kid, a miserable life from the day he was born except for that brief period when he felt loved.

  2. initially I was going to say that if TB did share his feelings on this case, Peter Kelly would somehow be implicated. But after reading Judge Jamie Campbell’s words, this is not the time for snark. This is a profound tragedy from all sides. Thank you Tim, for sharing this. We as a community have much to think upon.

  3. Nothing that a bullet between the eyes would not cure, but then the good doctor and the good social workers would not be needed nor would they get paid for their bull shit. Never saw an Indian yet that was worth a bullet though, I guess that i will have to recommend a sledge hammer, or how about a ice pick a la the mob.The results would be the same, one less indian, problem solved easily.
