The elections office hasn’t released official voting turnouts yet, but I was able to cobble together district-by-district turnouts using previously released numbers of eligible voters per district, and matching that with numbers of votes per candidate as released on the city’s web site. The percentages below won’t be exact, because they don’t include spoiled ballots, but otherwise they should be fairly reliable:

Tim do you know anything about the spoil ballot option. I voted online for mayor and district 16. I did not agree or want either outhit or ward elected so i spoiled my ballot on that one. If the total numbers match up perfectly there is no spoiled ballots box do those not count?
nevermind im an idiot i completely read over you explaining spoiled ballots but didnt take it in lol
Your district 6 calculation does not agree with the HRM election site: 4518 + 1983 = 6501, not 4501.
2 weeks ago Zebedee in District 5 was telling the press that it was a two horse race between him and Gloria. The numbers indicate that the NDP voters did not get behind their colleague in the manner they supported other party members elsewhere in HRM.
Big Oops …Recount gives the seat to Karsten by 70 votes, what a heartbreaker for Barkhouse.
Dear The Coast,
Since at least one table in District 3 reported their results twice, you have to revisit the Mayoral and District 3 results? Thank you.
Ridiculous! The HRM won’t publish a final tally for Mayor or the school boards. They only publish the results for each district, so citizens have to add the district numbers manually to get the actual overall result. What is the point of this?
The Returning Officer must have a tally, otherwise she could not announce a winner. So why is it not being published?!
Daniel, mayoral results are here:
http://www.halifax.ca/election/results/doc…
Annoyingly, there are no grand totals, so you have to add each district total together.
Also, this post is a sort of document in time- I was calculating voter turnouts using available info, before an official tally way released. So it’s not exactly right to alter it to reflect new info.
For those interested, the now official results, including changes in the District 3 tally, see here:
