As further evidence of Barrington Street recovery—see new area arrivals Obladee Wine Bar, Oddjects, Newcombe’s Ink (more info coming soon), TAO: The Adventure Outfitters, even Starbucks—we now have another delicious downtown destination to discover. E-PIN Korean Grill House (1533 Barrington Street, 431-3839) is a new Korean restaurant that’s gone in at the corner of Barrington and Salter in the Freemason’s Building. Described as a “high end, contemporary restaurant” it’s now open for dinner, from 4:30pm to 10pm.

  1. I have been there already, absolutely loved the restaurant! food was great, staff was very nice! nice decor! highly recommded!

  2. E-Pin is the only Korean restaurant in town (i think) that offers an authentic Korean experience in Halifax, with each table having its own grill built right into it so diners can mix/match their own meats and veggies, grill, and eat at their leisure.

  3. I had a less then impressing experience at lunch. Took over an hour and a half to get our food. I watched 3 people come into the restaurant to sit down, but left after 10 minutes of being ignored. I also saw one table get up and leave after waiting so long for their food. When the food finally arrived it was tasty, but only warm and definitely not worth the wait.

  4. I had much the same experience as Sarah89. Piss poor service. So I guess it was an authentic Korean experience since it reminded me of my time Seoul. We had to wait and wait for service. They have a distinct lack of soju (a must when having Korean bbq) and they were stingy with condiments/side dishes. The food was ok (it’s hard to mess up raw meat) but not spicy enough. The rice was dry and under-cooked (Korean style) and the wrapping greens were tiny. The wait staff was working hard but was overwhelmed. This place needs an ‘ajumma’ to take over and put things right. 3/10
