What does this mean exactly?
In the states, Ralph Nader is (correctly or not) largely credited with taking enough votes away from Al Gore that George Bush “won” (with Supreme Court help) the election. No Nader, Florida would’ve been clearly in the Gore camp, no recount needed. Or at least, so goes the argument. Not sure if I agree with it or not. Here in Canada, is it possible that the Greens took enough votes away the Liberals or NDP such that the Conservatives took certain districts?I don’t know what I think about that, either, which is why I’m just asking the question.Of course, the same question can be asked of Jack Layton. I have a longer post I’ll work on looking at the whole federal election party issue. I realize that I see it from an American perspective, and for that reason alone many people will reject it out of hand, but… well, joining forces seems to have worked in Canada for the right-of-centre parties, no?
