20 questions from The Coast
Meet the human behind the politician: We sent the candidates a questionnaire, asking questions that are more personal than political. Here are their unedited answers:
Coast analysis
Three-term councillor Dawn Sloane and one-term councillor Jennifer Watts are going head-to-head in the new Peninsula North district, with Trent Charles Peacock as the dark horse. Former north end councillor Patrick Murphy, who lost to Jerry Blumenthal by fewer than 200 votes in 2008, has told us directly that he will enter the Peninsula North race, but has yet to formally announce his candidacy.
Update, 3 August: Patrick Murphy called to say his wife didn’t think too kindly of our comments, and please remove them. Oh, and Doug MacDonald has now entered the race.
Update, August 7: Trent Peacock has dropped out of the race, saying (via Twitter) he can not compete with “special interest” money raised by the other candidates.
Update: August 10: Karen Dempsey has entered the race. Remarkably, her website and Facebook page are void of any particular stand she’ll take on any municipal issue. Here’s hoping that changes soon.
