Dawn Sloane has put the winter parking ban issue front and centre at council, and for good reason. The parking ban is the epitome of horrible government practices: it is overly broad and heavy-handed, treats citizens as if they have not a lick of sense, punishes people who have few options. Worse of all, suburban and rural councillors refuse to get rid of the parking ban because they want the ill-gotten gains of parking tickets to help fund suburban road projects like the Washmill underpass. The parking ban penalizes urban residents for simply being urban residents, and those politicians who refuse to act should be ashamed of themselves. Sloane is right to bitch about it, week in and week out, and if she does nothing else at all, she is ably representing her constituents.
Relatedly, Sloane has raised the issue of commuter parking in downtown neighbourhoods. She wants a free permit system for residents with a reasonably priced monthly charge for non-residents, with the money raised dedicated to transit. It’s not her fault that both parking issues are uphill battles, so if Sloane needs to be obnoxious and in other councillors’ faces, so be it.
Downsides: Sloane voted for the convention centre, which will ultimately be bad for downtown, and she bizarrely agreed with Barry Dalrymple’s proposal to wire councillors up to polygraph machines.
How to improve: Ignore Barry Dalrymple.

Honestly, this woman is a bit of an idiot. She doesn’t represent her area well and she is a bit of a joke too. Your rating system is so strange and just doesn’t make sense. She should easily be a C-
There is not enough room for me to say all….and Tim will moan and groan … I am all for hooking up every councillor to a test especially Peter Kelly and Dawn Sloane….have no doubt she is dangerously arrogant
