“I’ve been here since day one,” says Rosalind Hardiman, owner of Charles & Vern’s Flower Salon (6172 Quinpool, 423-7746) of the shop started on Quinpool Road by her parents in April 1966. “I was in high school.” Saturday, July 18 is the final day for the store as Hardiman has sold the building. Her husband is in poor health and she needs to spend more time with him than the business will allow, but she’s hoping to be able to work at least part time. “If we hadn’t sold the building I would have stayed until I dropped with a knife in my hand. This is my absolute passion and it breaks my heart but… that’s life.”

Rosalind does magic with flowers and is one of the best in the business. She will be missed by all of her customers.
