CarShareHFX (2459 Agricola Street, 406-7439), the local car sharing service, has a whole new membership option to save you money if you’re s student, faculty or staff at any of the Halifax post-secondary schools.
If you’re over the age of 21 and in the academic community (or are part of their family), you can get a $100 UCar rebate on a $200 full-year Household CarShareHFX membership, with gas, insurance and MacPass included in the fee. For anyone living on the peninsula or in downtown Dartmouth, this is a pretty sweet deal. It’s certainly more effective and inexpensive than car ownership, not to mention ecological. And for the rest of us not still a student or associated with one, there’s still the sweet deal of $20 per month—plus hourly rental charges—including gas and insurance, to help the transit-challenged.
