I commend Lezlie Lowe for her piece on the plight of Brindi and her owner, Francesca Rogier. I’m an animal lover and the owner of two large mixed-breed dogs, both rescue animals, and I empathize with Rogier. That being said, I believe that Brindi should be euthanized. Rogier is tying up our legal system and throwing money away—both hers and taxpayers’. The bottom line is that a dog has repeatedly hurt others, and there are laws and a responsibility to protect other dogs and humans from that same fate. Poor Brindi continues to suffer unnecessarily by being caged up and isn’t safe to be released, so sadly, it’s time to euthanize Brindi.

I disagree Maggie. Brindi is deemed highly retrainable by a very reputable behaviorist / trainer. Brindi’s problem is her owner. Brindi should not be killed but re-homed to a responsible person UNLIKE Ms. Rogier.
wow long winded ….
keep blabbering FR… everyone is finding out the truth you so conviently omit. Keep talking, it tells so much because all people has to do is read everything you say. This is fun.
Save Brindi but for gosh sake never ever to her owner.
Actually there were FOUR reports about Brindi, which were reported to AC,HRM,3 of which were attacks on another dog and one about Brindi running at large. Its about time that Brindi’s owner stopped blaming everyone else for the situation she is in,SHE did not muzzel Brindi, and could not keep Brindi under control on her own property. I ask whose fault is that ,AC,HRM,The MP,The MLA….NO its Ms. Rogiers lack of abiding by the law of HRM.
Keep telling untruths Ms. Rogier here is a direct quote from the Judge in his statement of facts.
“11] The record demonstrates that there were four incidents between August 21,
2007 and July 20, 2008. Three of these involve Brindi attacking dogs that were
walking by the applicant’s property in East Chezzetcook. In chronological order,
the incidents are as follows”””
I guess you forgot there were 4 not 3 incidents as you claim,or just another untruth.
Brindi has never hurt anyone, and if another dog wanders onto my land, you better believe my Cattle Dog will take it down, is that not why people get dogs in the first place? for protection? To those of you who believe she should be euthanized, shame on you, she is the product of a system that has failed her, and if not for Ms. Rogier, they could walk into your home at any time to “put down” your pets…lets just hope what happened to her never happens to you…
Holy Crap!
What century do we live in? It seems a lot of people would dearly love public hangings and witch burnings!
The dog is acting like a dog. Period. Do we want to abolish dogs? Of course not. Ms. Rogier has complied with all recommendations, including fencing and obedience training. The dog will be fine, the neighbours and their animals will be fine. Why the call for BLOOD? It’s insane.
So pinkydo , what to do…kill the owner perhaps ?
After all if the problems not the dog, but the owner.
How do you return the animal, with a history of problems when not properly handled, to an owner…who is responsible for the mess in the first place ?
If the owners incapable of being responsible, even if the dog is fine while supervised, the owners probably going to f^(k up again, which will cause the whole court challenge to start again
Which is why i made the outrageous statement about euthanizing the owner ~;)
This whole thing is a ridiculous waste of taxpayers dollars. The dog should have been put down long ago. For those of you that don’t live in the community mind you own business. The woman that owns the dog isn’t wrapped too tight in the first place. She has been living in a house that is up on blocks now for 2 years. The woman by not completing the work started has devaluated all the properties close to her. She has no regard for others in the comunity and has put the safety and welfare of people here after the welfare of a mutt. It is her fault the dog has done what he has and if it is returned to her it is sure to do something again. Are we going to wait until some poor child is bitten and disfigured or someone elses pet is hurt? She has broken the law. Let her suffer the concequences of her actions. It is time for those who are not directly affected to keep their noses out of the business in this community and let the people residing close to this crazy woman have some peace. It is unbelievable that it has gone this far and has wasted so many tax dollars that could have been put to much better use. Euthanise the dog and deport the owner back to the states where she came from. I don’t even think she is a canadian citizen to begin with. Put the dog down and have done with it and stop listening to all the bleeding hearts and moronic tree huggers and lets get on with life.
To tiltdeck – I suppose if you are beating your wife we should mind our own business too, right? If you think the facts are so distorted and one-sided, feel free to educate those of us “not from your community”. Suffering the consequences also does not equate to impounding a dog for two years. It’s our legal system that has dragged this on. The owner has a right to fight for her property. If the legal system decides that it needs to take forever to make a decision, then that is the root of this issue, not Brindi, not the owner. Lots of dogs bite. Lots of owners comply to the requested “fixes”. Lots don’t. Regardless of the community. Then the appropriate action in taken. There is something else going on here and I for one don’t like the looks of it. And your comments (and some of the others) don’t do your community any service either.
I have to agree with Tiltdeck on this one. I too am from the community and been following the story. The facts that the owner of Brindi puts out are completely 1 sided. She always says there were only 2 attacks and people think oh my dogs do that. Well it was well over 5 seperate attacks on dogs. All off of her property, some happening on the other side of the road. I can forgive the first and second attacks, but after that wouldn’t you as a responsible owner, who loves their dog, take the proper measures to make sure this would never happen again. Then yet again, the dog, while on a muzzle order attacked another dog, this time a helper dog of an elderly woman. Where was the muzzle? Saying she got away is not an excuse, unless the dog opened the door and let itself out, which last time I checked dogs can’t do.
Time for Ms. Rogier to face facts and live with her decisions of letting the dog run free. I’m not saying kill the dog, but a suitable adoption would have been done months ago, but this woman is too selfish to allow that, making Brindi suffer in a cage because Ms. Rogier can’t control her. SHAME ON YOU!
Looks like it’s time for you all to shut up and go back to your dreary lives. Your opinion doesn’t matter and never did. Justice was done today. Get used to it.
