Brad Johns is probably the most underrated councillor. He consistently offers worthy insight, which goes unvalued by his colleagues. He does good constituency work, and everyone in the district knows where to find him. Importantly, he hails from the upper reaches of Sackville —you can more easily drive to Windsor from there than to downtown Halifax—yet doesn’t play into the bullshit urban/suburban divide that characterizes much of council.
It’s precisely because he is under-valued, however, that he isn’t getting a still-higher grade. Maybe that’s unfair on our part, but Johns needs to somehow break through the divide that keeps him from being a player. Whether that means some change to his personal style, or getting dirty with some old-fashioned horse trading, we don’t know.

I am sorry, but this is just insane. Anyone from the Mid/Upper Sackville Community knows Brad Johns as a mythical creature of sorts. One that never returns phone calls, only shows up to meetings when there are cameras and being a genuinely unpleasant person to speak with. He continues to be re-elected because he is often uncontested and when he DOES have opposition, they run poor campaigns. He maybe ‘under-valued’ for the work he does in his chair at city hall — but he certainly isn’t valuable to our community.
I concur with the comment above. Brad Johns most certainly has not returned our phone calls or countless emails sent to him. It would seem that the people that vote him in are his last priority!! I for one, will not be voting him in next time elections roll around.
Brad Johns my advice would be to return your calls/emails (it goes a long way)
