Kate Hamilton calls Bodega Boutique (20 Wentworth Street) her “last ditch effort” to stay in this province forever. “I realized I needed to make my own job if I’m going to make a life in Nova Scotia,” says the entrepreneur, who’ll debut her men’s, women’s and giftware shop to downtown Dartmouth on October 15.
Hamilton will carry local artists and companies when it comes to gifts and accessories, and aims to bring in “new brands we don’t have, and old brands we love” when it comes to clothing—BB Dakota, Dear Creatures and Sealed With A Kiss on the women’s side, Tavik and Howe on the men’s, to name a few. And after recognizing a need for fashionable, affordable plus size clothing Bodega has committed to carrying sizes from 0-24.
Bodega Boutique’s arrival will bring with it an online store, as well as What I Wore on Wentworth—a fashion blog inspired by both Hamilton’s background in photography and all of the beautiful clothing she’s about to surround herself with.
“We’re really trying to create a shopping destination that’s not the mall,” she says of the string of openings in the neighbourhood. “We want to get people out, and get them saving money.”

Bodega Boutique has fantastic clothes at great prices and puts one in mind of hip stores from Toronto. Go Kate!!
However, this story is badly written. It’s sculpted to make the venture sound like it was executed out of desperation. Bodega is anything but desperate.
