In last year’s report card, we criticized Bob Harvey for “just calling it in.” This year, we’re happy to report, Harvey has been more committed to the job. He was particularly good when it came to the Skye Halifax proposal, by first of all voting against moving it to the public hearing stage, and secondly leading an unsuccessful bid to get council to reverse its ill-advised decision to advance it.

Harvey also voted against removing the Hydrostone from the north end BID, and against the sale of St. Pat’s-Alexandra. However, Harvey could not find it within himself to vote to censure Peter Kelly, and let the Occupy eviction and transit strike continue without his involvement.

Harvey has announced his retirement from council. His absence will be felt.

  1. The most sensible person in the chamber, other than Tim. I think he would be a very good mayor but at his age he can’t be bothered and deserves to enjoy his remaining years free of the comedy on Barrington Street. He actually understands the value of culture.
