Snowplowing and salting so far this year SUCKS! Main roads done first, then side streets, then roads are SUPPOSED to be pushed back to the curb. Well where are the supervisors of this work? I see 3-5 feet of ice-hard snowbanks extending into the roadways and merge and turning lanes only half done. Sloppy fucking work if you ask me! I pay my taxes for snow clearing and want a professional job done. Maybe it is time someone in the HRM opens their eyes and drive around HRM and take care of this substandard work these people get paid to do. Can’t handle the job or do what you are supposed to do? YOU’RE FIRED!!!!!!
PISSED!

How about clearing that fucking ice on every corner in downtown Halifax? What a sloppy, half-assed job – somebody’s balls should be roasting in the fire but nooooooooooooo – that dick Mayor of ours chooses to ignore that, just like he ignores the dismal, war zone conditions of Barrington Street and the requisite bum on every corner. I am truly ashamed of how this fucking city is run.
Have you tried walking along the sidewalk that stretches between Robie and Agricola, beside Bloomfield school? The result is either wet feet or a broken spine, and that’s days after our last storm. Walking along the shoulder of the sidewalk, up on the snowbank is a lot easier and safer.
Meh. Notice how, to cut costs, they’ve switched from salt to clay (aka Kitty Litter) on some of the sidewalks? Boo, I say, boo. Good luck to anyone who has to wear dress shoes and walks anywhere.
i hate winter. that is all.
Dresden Row between Morris and Clyde is down to one lane because of the snowbanks they let extend well into the street and the parking that is allowed on both sides. Ridiculous, and unsafe. Why don’t we utilize large snowblowers and dumptrucks like they do in Montreal to remove the banks in locations like that? Because this is Halifax, with the famous “we can’t afford to do it right, so put up with our half-assed mediocrity” attitude.
Dr F; salt is only useful down to around -3 or so; after that they use sand for traction. It may or may not be cheaper but its at least safer. That being said… HRM needs to step up with its snow clearing.
UGH the far right turning lane on bayers turning onto joe howe is AWFUL. The snow/ice extends half way into the lane. UGH.
I used to live in a small town in the valley and we always had our streets plowed before the night was over and the snow banks cut down within a day. Their budget was pretty small too, so if they can do it, why the HELL can’t HRM at least plow the streets to some acceptable degree?
I worked for a snow removal company, and the reason i don’t is because they like to cut corners and i didn’t. I would work my ass off, and then get yelled at because what I did took too long.
Besides the lanes being half cut off, bus stop clearing is way off. There are stops that are still snowbanks. I liked it better when people did their own sidewalks, at least then there was some pride in the work, even if some didn’t clear the sidewalks at all.
It’s oh so hilarious when the bus has to stop 20 feet down the road in a drive way because there are 10 feet high snow banks by the stop.
And by hilarious, I mean horribly pathetic.
