I am a student at a local university, I have spent a lot of money to go to school to learn and I don’t appreciate other students constantly talking during class. it is rude and disrespectful. If chatting (and using Facebook) during class is more important than listening then get the fuck out. I have had to ask several of you disrespectful little shits to be quiet and I shouldn’t have to. The profs work hard on their lectures and deserve a little more than what they are getting. Show some respect. —A student who cares

Unfortunately you are in the minority with this approach to school.
Say something in class, with the prof in attendance. Stating it here does nothing.
Some profs set allow this in the lectures, some don’t. It’s also annoying when people start packing up 5 minutes before end, drowning out what the prof is saying. This is disrespectful to the prof and the students who wanted to hear what was being said. Respect never occurs to these inconsiderate people.

Some profs actually just don’t care! As long as they get $$$, that’s all that matters!
It gets better in your 3rd and 4th year when the classes are smaller, and the people are actually interested in learning the material. Hang in there.
You can tell who is paying for school out of pocket and who is their on their parents money. :/
