The biggest problem is this growth in so called road rage, an unwillingness to share the road with anyone. People seem to think they need to be there first come hell or high water… Car drivers do not like to be behind a cyclist, even when the cyclist is at or slightly above the speed limit. I find this especially on Spring Garden Road and other streets in downtown Halifax. —Do You Want the Blood of Someone’s Dad/Brother on Your Hands?

  1. A cyclist at or above the speed limit! LOL. Yeah right. I’ll believe it when I see it. Until then, they get their 1m when I pass them, but that’s it. Once I get ahead of them, I hug the curb so they cannot pass and must wait like every other vehicle on the road.

  2. haha, nice one ttfn. it’s the flailing of arms and the screaming mouth, luckily in the winter you can’t hear them

  3. That’s the “biggest problem?
I’ll alert the child soldiers of the Sudan.
Tell them to get their bikes off Spring Garden Road.

I thought the dude was driving? Wouldn’t that be “… on your car?”

Halfway valid. I don’t like being behind a bike because there is no brake light if he decides to stop or slow down. He can stop pretty damn fast but after reaction time and slowing a car you might have run the poor guy over. I’d rather not be in such a position, so I’ll pass them if it is safe to do so.

  5. i agree with al bundy…… i worry the biker will fall over… or turn suddenly… or swerve… and i run them over by mistake because i cant react. id rather be in front so they are safer.

it may seem silly because the next car is behind them…. but then its not my problem or on my conscience if someone gets squished.

  6. I like to not be near a cyclist whatsoever, for the reasons others posted. If the cyclist falls or whatever, I don’t want to kill them. I also don’t want to get rear ended by some jackass who isn’t paying attention to the fact that we have to slow down to 20km/h.

  7. Dep, that is a lame excuse. If you are unable to stop in time, then you are travelling too close. keeping a safe distance behind a vehicle is your responsibility as a driver. Tailgating is hardly an excuse to unsafely pass a vehicle or a bike.
