So you asked me to do a specific carpentry job for the business you manage. I do the job straight away ’cause you were in a jam. (three days work) and now you have been giving me the run around for a month and I still haven’t been paid. “Come tomorrow.” “I’ll pay you Tuesday.” “Come back later in the afternoon” “Friday for sure” “first of the week” “oh… I will do internet transfer this evening” I go back you are gone. I text and no reply. Friday comes and Friday goes. First of the week comes and is gone. Internet transfer never happens. I have been in to see you on at least 10 occasions and I get another story. Why would you do that? A person does a job for your big business then you don’t pay? You got the work done you requested… at a great price. I help you out and you jerk me around. I spent more on fuel chasing you around on your excuses trying to get paid than the job cost.
That is just not right. —Still No Money

  1. Mention small claims court and see what happens. I bet they’ll suddenly find it.

  2. Get yourself a sandwich board, write something to the effect that this company doesn’t pay it’s contractors for the work they have done. Park yourself in front of their doors about 10 mins before they open, so that all the customers and employees that arrive will see that their boss is a dishonest douchebag.

My buddy did it when they wouldn’t honour the warranty for his truck. He stood in front of the doors and told everyone that walked in that X-company doesn’t stand behind their product and sold him a lemon. He was out there about an hour, and after turning away at least a few potential customers, they saw things his way.

  3. SHITTY has a great idea.

Also, they’re not paying you, because despite being a ‘big business’ as you claim, they probably don’t have the money.

  4. That and there are a lot of businesses out there that don’t feel it’s a priority to pay people who do work for them (outside contractors). They feel they’ve got more important things to concern themselves with.

  5. Parents owned a company that went bankrupt exactly because of this.
Filthy people won’t pay unless you threaten them with something.

  6. Guess what? I showed up at the place with a letter from my lawyer stating that if it wasn’t paid in five days we would be taking it to court. I got paid. Thanks for the help. Good to see some comments being helpful!

  7. It’s very simple. If they haven’t paid you then the work materials belong to you. Tell them if they do not pay you, in full, within the next 48 hours you will return to remove the materials from the premisis. I’m sure it’s not what you want, but I’m positive it’s not what they want either.
