The Low-down: I took my dog in for his yearly checkup and shots on Monday. I requested that the vet look at his nails to cut them, she stated they were not nearly long enough to cut, “they will be fine for a while”. Flash forward 2 days, my wife is out for a walk with our 4 legged friend, his dew claw cracks and turns itself into his paw. The wife rushes him down to the vet, they state they will have to give him a pedicure (20.00), sedate him, then reverse sedation, bandaging and the cost for the visit itself.
The kicker, they charged the 20$ for the nail cutting that I asked about on the Monday and if performed, more than likely this accident never happens.
If you wanted to fuck me over, I could have gladly bent over on Monday for you. To charge for the exact procedure I asked about on Monday is just morally wrong. Sure be nice if anyone knows of a vet who is most concerned about the well being of our pets rather that fattening their wallets.

Dr. Carnegy =^^=

They don’t anaesthetize unless they HAVE to, as well, which makes it MUCH safer (and a little bit less expensive) for families.
I 100% agree with lilac and totally recommend Dr. Carnegy, it’s the only place I bring my pets and have never once felt like they were ‘ripping me off’!! They’re fantastic!
That’s were I bring my pets too. We switched to them cuz they’re great!!
Take your dog to a fucking groomer, there are plenty in halifax nowadays. I wouldn’t ask my doctor to clip my nails, I’d get some Asian chick to do it!
Carnegy’s prices are actually at the lower end too.
Plus I always hear RAVE reviews about them. They’re hella busy because they have an awesome rep.
I am totally going to check them out. I have a problem with the vets in Dartmouth. My dog got fleas because the vet gave him a monthly flea med but told me it was good for a year, I noticed the fleas on saturday. I tried to get to the vet but all of the buses were fucked up because of the parade and i didn’t make it there on time before it closed. Sunday they were closed and apparently you can’t buy flea medication from the after hours clinic. And so I had to wait until today before I could give him the pill he needed. I was so enraged I will never take my boy back to that vet.
Vets= Legalized Robbery. Plain and simple.
There is an amazing vet in St. Margarets Bay – across the road near the Superstore out there. I can’t recall her name but she is amazing. Prices can not be beat (I am sure she charges you cost) … and asks that when you can afford to do so – make a donation. I know several people who just had no cash for emergency vet treatment and went to her practice and she accomidated a payment plan etc. She is the best!
Dr Bail?
Dr. Bailes at the Saint Margarets Bay Vet Hospital. She is a humanitarian of the first order – a little odd in her mannerisms but this can be overlooked by her kindness and obvious affection for ALL animals.
If you’re allergic to animal smells this isn’t the place for you!!
