The people who live in the apartment next to me are the absolute worst. I have had roommates from hell, but at least their talking wouldn’t wake me up in the middle of the night out of my sleep.Honestly, I can hear exactly what this couple is saying in

As irritating as loud neighbours, you’re making an assumption:”I have already heard a story from my friend about how their aren’t particularly peasant individuals, which means I doubt that any request for them to be quiet would be take seriously.”Based on what? Because your *friend* said they had a visitor’s car ticketed for being in what was probably a “residents only” parking lot? Correct me if I’m wrong (and I’m sure someone *will*), but EVERY apartment building I have ever lived in or visited had parking for residents in one area, and if they had vistor parking at all, it wasn’t usually mixed in with residents parking, therefore, if your friend’s father parked in a spot that the Supers used (reserved or not), it was a residents spot, not one for visitors, and eligible for ticketing. Oh, and I have TREID desperately to get family members who are traffic cops to ticket people when I worked in a rather large complex where people parked illegally, and they were always to busy to show, so I doubt your super managed to get someone onsite, which means that your friends father was probably ticketed because he was parked where he wasn’t supposed to be.Oh yeah – and another thing, if you’re going to school (and ostensibly working to help pay for your apartment), you’re probably not *around* to see them work on the building – here’s more of your assumptions getting in the way of rational thought. My point (and yes, I *do* have one), dear OP, is that if you go raving at someone, you are automatically in the wrong, and based on your “evidence” that these people are scum, you’re liable to go raving. Your best bet would be to mention to them politely that you find the walls in your apartment are less than soundproof, and is there anything that can be done, as you are sure that at some point you will disturb *them*, and you’re sure they wouldn’t want that. Document the conversation. If the noise continues to be an issue, write them a letter, and send a copy to the landlord. IOf that doesn’t work, I find a CD of a really annoying song played over and over through speakers facing the common wall work wonders. May I suggest “Happy Happy Joy Joy” by Ren and Stimpy?
You must live in a pretty crappy apt complex if you can hear people talking or even yelling between apartments. Perhaps you should go find yourself a concrete building. I live in a concrete building and the *only* thing I can hear are my douchebag neighbours’ surround sound when they jack it up, and they JACK it up. My walls vibrate and I can hear the bass…even still it’s not THAT bad (and as douchy as they are they WILL turn it down when I knock on their door). And if they ARE screaming they may be in violation of the noise by laws in HRM and you could have the cops come and ticket them….but I doubt they’re screaming, you probably just live in a crappy building….even when I lived in a shitty ass wood construction, cheaply built apartment a few years back I couldn’t hear my neighbours unless the balcony door was open on both sides and they were yelling, however a friend of mine lives in a cheap ass building (which is pretty much a slum) and you can hear some talking between floors. Anyway….perhaps you should find a new place to live that muffles sound better? How do you know they can’t hear you or noise from YOUR unit and just haven’t said anything (or are trying to send you a hint by yelling?).
At least you don’t hear them shagging. Or do you?
I had a similar problem with neighbors & one of them was a child of the Super’s. I found that out when I complained about how loud it was & it was after 11pm. They were keeping my kids awake. luckily they lived below us ,So I just put my linear 1200 series speakers face down on the floor, put in Thunder Struck by AC/DC, turned it all the way up & turned it on. By the time the Police arrived the pictures on their walls had fallen down. the cupboard doors had opened & dishes had broken. That whole section of the building was shaking 🙂 During the Police visit along with the downstairs neighbors & the Supers, other people on my floor ,as well as from other units came out & told Police how they had also complained & nothing was done by the Supers to stop the problem. We ended up with a tenants meeting several days later & they(the owners) ended up replacing the Super’s–YAAAAAAY .BUT… I didn’t give a SH*T if they kicked me out , so I really had nothing to lose…you may not be able to do that.
May I be so forward as to suggest another annoying song to play………… Tip-toe through the tulips by Tiny Tim
