Also fuck you all inconsiderate and stupid bicyclists who occupy the road at crawling speed and hold up traffic behind you for miles. Get on the sidewalk and walk, you incompetent morons. Also fuck you all stupid pedestrians with their stupid noses in their stupid phones who jump on the road without checking the traffic. Also fuck you all bicyclists who are on the roads at night wearing dark clothes and no light or reflectors. Hey how dumb is this, lol. People walking to work to reduce their carbon footprint and this guy thinks he’s entitled to roll through the crosswalk ahead of pedestrians. Its bad enough that pedestrians get killed all year in this city, this guy thinks we’re not crossing fast enough. Listen, some people have disabilities, some people just don’t want run around like a rat all day. Calm the fuck down.
How nice for people to be able to walk to work! Would that we all had such options! I’m guessing they’re either paying rent to the land-owning slum landlords/upper class of the peninsula, or they ARE the land-owning upper class of the peninsula, because no one who isn’t upper class can afford to buy a little place of their own on the peninsula now. Some of us who buy a little place of our own off the peninsula have (shitty) bus service; many don’t have any bus service at all, and we have to drive our shitty cars to work. Meanwhile, the Richie Riches who live in the South End whine to city council about traffic in their neighbourhoods–they don’t want the likes of us riffraff driving on an actual ROAD–and hey presto! “Your wish is our command, Richie Riches,” says City Council and the riffraff is diverted onto a few clogged arteries, making our commute even fucking worse. WAKE UP, HALIFAX. Being able to walk or cycle from a house you own to work in the city does not make you a hero (though it does, apparently, make you smug). It means you’re rich. Commuting is a class issue, folks. I’m really tired of people who can afford to own homes on the peninsula getting sniffy about all the great unwashed driving their cars to work, when our bus service is as truly abysmal as it is. If you’re so concerned about the environment, pay more property taxes on your zillion dollar homes so we can afford a decent transit system in this shitty little city.
