… Because on a stormy day, with no plows on the roads yet and three inches of snow sitting in live lanes of traffic, a sudden unexpected stop by someone trying to “be nice” means that the car coming up behind you can’t necessarily stop as quickly as he normally would – thus he smashed into you… and the car coming behind him (i.e. me) can’t necessarily stop as quickly either – nor could I change lanes to go around the stopped vehicles due to other traffic – so I smashed into him. Becuase of your fucking stupidity (stopping to wave somone across two lanes of live traffic in a blizzard so she could get into her driveway) I have to pay to fix your mistake. Fuck you. This is why kindness kills. Just follow the rules of the road. —You Don’t Stop In The Middle Of The Road If You Don’t Have To

  1. Sounds like they were looking for a nice insurance claim. Who in their right mind would wave someone in during a snow storm when you are lucky to be able to stop period. What an idiot.

  2. Hence the reason why insurance rates are through the roof? Sorry but when the roads are bad I am more cautious than courteous!

  3. WHich is why they have court rooms !
If you have a multi car pile up & both people in the rear, go to court & claim the asshole who stopped for no reason , when they had the right of way & were only being “courteous ….you can beat them in a court room & they can be held respnosible.

The ole , you hit them in the rear end doesn’t always apply . Sounds like you need to get ahold of the other driver who hit thme when they stopped for no good reson & both of you take this to court.

Because you will be held at fault & see your insurance rate/class be screwed because of a F’in imbecile …there is nothing that pisses me off more than someone ‘being nice’ to someone ahead of them …while screwing over the dozen + people trapped in their vehicles behind them !

  4. What of all the drivers who haven’t been in such an accident on account of adjusting their speed and space due to weather and behavioural norms in the region. Unless you’re new to the city or the weather channel, there’s no reason not to expect, simultaneously, snow fall and abrupt interruptions in traffic flow.

Rather than questioning the intelligence of another driver for adhering to local driving norms, no matter how stupid they seem, you should question your own intelligence for not factoring such norms into your own driving habits.

  5. i heard this strange phrase once…..adjust speed to driving conditions

if there is a blizzard, and it’s icy, you should be frigging CRAWLING, not doing 5 k under your normal.

you already stated you couldn’t stop as quickly as normal, so why were were so closely behind the car in front? it could just as easily be the lead car stopping/slowing for a runaway green cart, or a kid darting out or a pedestrian slipping and falling into the road.

  6. Op, if you can’t stop for something…..anything……..then I suggest that you slow the fuck down you dumb numb nut.

  7. Even more stupid was the cyclist on Victoria Road near Boland at 6:50 a.m. last Friday morning in 3 inches of snow and in heavy traffic heading East to the MacDonald Bridge.
The fool did have a helmet and a front light but I think he was on a suicide mission.
Ditto the jogger on the road yesterday morning at the same time heading up Victoria near Tulip. Apparently jogging on the road in slippery conditions is safer than jogging on the adjacent sidewalk.

  8. someone driving in front of you should be able to Lock it up without getting rear ended.

you should be in control of your own vehicle.

If you are tailgaiting a car in the snow its your own fault you ran into him.

  9. Fuck you Middle of the Road…you were going too fast, probably texting, and not paying attention.
IF you were…you could have stopped easily….but no….you were tailgating.
Just follow the rules of the road… idiot.

  10. Back 30+ years ago, I learned to adjust my speed to account for this very situation.

You didn’t OB; you got what was coming to you. Stop crying.

  11. Any of you remember the thaw we had a week or so ago ?
THen after dark the temperature dropped & everything froze again ?
I’ve got brand new studded tires , & going around a corner at about 25/30 klicks I hit an ice spot & just slid sideways for a couple dozen feet or so …no control just ‘curling’ along ’til I hit the shoulder.

Best tires in the world won’t let you stop if someone ahead of you has traction & you don’t & they stop for no reason …that’s the bitch
“THE F’IN Imbecile, stopped for no reason” …. you show me where it says “those with the right to proceed, shall stop whenever they want & impede the safe flow of traffic to allow someone to cut throught he lane of those with the right away ??? “

Cause I can’t find that clause …. thanks in advance.

  12. that’s why i like the standard, downshifting helps plus lots of driving experience. tho, like more said, sometime you just go sliding

  13. so…..as long as you have the ‘right’ of way you are right? so if i see a person jaywalking i am morally or even legally in the right if i plow into him?

we would be strangled by laws if it had to cover every conceivable situation. this is why we are supposed to use common sense, and common courtesy.

i would not want to wrap myself in ‘i had the right of way’ while my butt was sticking out bare nekkid in foolishness.
