Friday, around noon, I’m driving up from the dockyard and am going straight. There is a red light and I stop. I look across and I see this shit box of a car driven by a young guy and his girlfriend sitting in the passenger side. I already know what he’s going to do.

I tell my wife, here is another one going to pull this. He is turning left and instead of pulling out and waiting for it to be safe, this puke guns the gas to beat the first car going straight – only problem was, him and his bitch girlfriend (waving and laughing at me while I beep the horn) failed to see the poor old black guy that was in the cross walk.

So Mr. Von Douchenbag slams on his brakes, blocks traffic. Thank goodness I didn’t accelerate in the manner he did or we would have collided. I haven’t seen this maneuver pulled in any other province in the 20 years I’ve been driving. It is one of the more common place things I see here – what is it? Is this something they teach in drivers training here? I’m sure the literature would say that failing to yield to oncoming traffic, delaying the normal flow of traffic, striking a pedestrian and jack rabbit starts would be illegal. Why does this happen here so much?—Icky

  1. Hugo, it’s very difficult to get plate numbers these days as plates on private veicles are only required in the rear. Front plates have been gone for about 20 years or so now. Supposedly to save costs. I wonder how many crimes/infractions could have been solved if front and rear plates were mandatory.

  2. you should’ve nailed him o.p., you just should have, would have been his fault, and love to listen to him splain to the fuzz how it happened.

  3. I know someone who got killed walking in a crosswalk by a driver who failed to recognize their responsibility to stop. It’s crazy out there!

  4. i think its cause all the young guys with their civics and shitbox cars like to save a few seconds and beat the oncomming traffic dangerously instead of waiting to turn. One day the gf will realize her bf is a douche and will leave him… maybe…

  5. i wish i had have gotten the plate, i have done so on many occasions, however the situation the kid put the rest of the intersection made it impossible to get the license plate from him safely. What absolutely kills me is that his girlfriend, put into a dangerous situation by her idiot boyfriend, clearly didnt get the fact that if i had have hit the car, she would have been the first to feel the impact of my larger vehicle….and she was supporting his behaviour. Also, dont get me wrong, ive seen young, old, man, woman etc all do this….and only in this area have i seen it. this and the inability of drivers to make it properly through double right/left turn lanes makes me shudder when i see it.

  6. Cuja, your bitch is valid until you start to go all “only in Halifax..” on us. Fuck off with the agenda. I’ve seen assholes pull this stunt all over Canada.

  7. Because people in Halifax are A-holes, pure and simple. Stupid, narcisstic, and incompetent. They are PROUD of it too. Love the way we LIvE!

  8. There was an accident at this very instersection this morning. From what I heard (I work down there), it was basically the same idea.

  9. im sorry badguy i didnt think of a worthy insult to throw out there. i can live with that. But Jennier, either read properly or dont read at all, and certainly dont comment. Nowhere did it mention Halifax only, i said province, not city. But i get it you are defensive about “your city.” but the fact remains, i havent seen it done in Quebec city, montreal, toronto, calgary, moncton, Charlottetown, Victoria or any other city ive driven in except for the cities and towns HERE. the guy just happened to be in this city, would you have rather me said somewhere else? would that have made your day better?
