Accurate.
Having anxiety, depression and/or having a dark year would spark a match in the head of someone providing mental health services to ask questions of that person alleging sexual assault. It is entirely appropriate to challenge those questions.
Allegations of sexual assault are very serious; in some cases certain things need to be reported so it’s important for the mental health service provider to assess the situation fully.
Bringing false charges against someone are as serious, if not more so, as sexual assault. We all want justice but that occurs in a court of law, not in the public realm.
Hope this rounds things out!
OB is referencing a Coast article about Two If By The Sea guy. They are quoting him, not a victim. So he acknowledged using his status as an employer to harass female employees and sited his depression etc as a rationale for his inappropriate behaviour — straight from the horses mouth. I agree with OB that this is not an acceptable excuse. Although his action may not have actually been illegal they were still highly unprofessional and inappropriate for someone in a position of power especially — but for anyone really.
Was it now?! Hahaha! Well, what I wrote is correct, save the context.
It sad to see him persecuted in the media like he has been. This is a personnel matter not a legal matter. But now that things and brought it in the public, I would suggest he look into the source of that information leak and call his lawyer.
I agree that the court of public opinion is not reliable and some of this is starting to feel a little witch-hunty but I look at it on a case-by-case basis and try not to have a blanket opinion one way or the other. In this particular case, he seems to be a pretty disreputable individual. I would not want a friend or loved one to be under the employ of a person like that — fuuuuuuuck him. I have no sympathy.
I mean if someone said “LaciG treated me inappropriately and sexually harassed/assaulted me” my response would be “Fucking nope, this is a lie” and I would charge that person with slander or something. This guy? He says “I was in a dark place, really you should pity me for the way I abused my power cause I felt sad about myself that’s why.”
Do I think he she be put on a sex offender list based on the examples given in the article? No — although stripping naked and begging a woman for sex who has already rejected your advances is crossing that line…not to mention pathetic AF…it’s impossible to prove beyond he said/she said 2 years after the fact. Do I think it’s appropriate that he, at the very least, be removed from a position of power (AND HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT!!) abso-fucking-lutely!
The guy’s a douchebag, look at the look on his face in that pic, and that was for a piece of free publicity. Guy deserves a throat punch.
What raises my suspicions are the overwhelming numbers of accusations; if this was 1978, yes – but it’s not. None of the accused can say anything so as not to ruin their defense (should they actually come to a court of law). I see few prosecutions in comparison to the numbers accused. And the few women who have spoken out publicly seem to have a weak case (he looked at you up and down and called you stupid; that’s all?).
Should we the public speculate that something actually more heinous has happened? If you’re going to come out publicly, make accusations of horrible thongs yet not bring the case to court, should you not make your proof public as well?
No, I can’t blindly follow. I will not believe what you have to say until you present me with some tangible proof. To do so is as bad as making accusations without proof.
“make accusations of horrible thongs” lol
Maybe if he had better thongs he wouldn’t come across as such a creep.
Indeed! But your thongs look great on you LaciG!
On a side note, thongs were once sandals (usually rubber) which where held on by straps, one of which was located between the first and second toe. They were my faves. Occasionally, you could find leather ones.
