The new health centre in Bayer’s Lake is meant to serve the ENTIRE province of Nova Scotia, not just the downtown core. Just because the location it doesn’t prioritize the commuting of South End  and downtown residents doesn’t make Bayer’s Lake a wasteland or Clayton Park a ghost town. Most importantly, remember that flooded decayed hospital shaped building full of Legionnaire’s disease and bed bugs that houses and treats sick patients? Would you prefer we kept services there or would you maybe like some new facilities? —HRM Resident

  1. Funny how I totally assumed that a hospital in Halifax was, you know, meant for the people of the HRM. Sure, everyone else gets sent to these hospitals for specialist appointments, but primarily hospitals in the HRM are used by HRM residents. Isn’t that why rural NS has hospitals? I live outside of the downtown core too but the current location is far closer than a 2+ hour bus drive out to Bayers Lake.

  2. I agree with J MacD the HRM hospitals are primarily for HRM residents. The argument for why Bayers Lake is crappy is because of those of us who don’t have cars to get there. If you’re coming from somewhere else in the province, clearly you have a way to get to Halifax, going downtown is not going to make much difference over the distance you’ve already come. But, someone like me, who has to bus from Dartmouth, the difference between downtown and Bayers Lake is hours.
