Hey pal in the silver pick-up truck who tried to kill me when I was IN THE CROSSWALK at Brunswick and Sackville the morning of Feb. 17 – you didn’t stop to ask me why I punched your truck – WTF?! It was because, well, it’s a bit rude to try to kill someone you don’t know in peacetime. Hell, people who KNOW me and don’t like me don’t try to kill me! I wanted you to stop so we could discuss what else you could have done, like STOP YOUR FUCKING VEHICLE, for example. I also wanted to get to know you better on a personal level. But you sped off like a limp cheesedick. I thought Nova Scotia men had more balls than you showed – I still think most do. Here’s a thought: next time you have to make a decision – make an informed one and maybe even spare a life. And, if challenged to act like a man, stand up and try that for a change. There’s a first time for everything! Best of luck; much love.
—BIG DOUG, very disappointed in you

  1. I had a guy almost hit me as I was crossing the street at Spring Garden and Grafton in the summer. Seriously, it was so close that I was able kick the side of his car. Not surprisingly he kept driving…. Happened to me last year in Fairview as well- the stupid intersection at Dutch Village and Titus I believe. Worst place for crossing as there are poles blocking the view for those coming up Dutch Village continuing right. This guy stopped inches in front of me. I could practically feel his shame through the windshield though- I think it was one of the biggest scares of his life- he looked ready to faint.

  2. Agreed AT, no doubt this didnt quite go down as described either, but with people these days, who with any common sense would get out… If it was me driving, I may get out to apologize to the pedestrian, but after they stuck my car I’d be more apt to run them down purposfully…

  3. And yet I doubt you reported his plate number to the police. Sounds like you have more muscle than brain. At least there is plenty of snow for you to put your swollen fist into.

  4. Ya. That is what I fully intend to do the next time I almost hit someone and they curse at me and punch my car. Pull over and go back and “chat with him” LOL. Idiot. Chances are you would have shit your pants if buddy actually did stop lol.

  5. Logic – I agreee! You took the words right out of my mouth.
Once buddy hit my car that is when they would have to really worry about your life.

Maybe the next time a pedestrian walks out into the road “not” in a cross walk we should all get out of our cars and punch them in the face.
(Sounds kinda stupid eh!) So does OP!!

  6. big doug, didn’t you know that you are worth more kill points when you are in a crosswalk. there is no fun mowing you down, in the open. golly feller, hope you can run faster next time they see you. i do, and i’m no athlete.

  7. I’ve done this a couple of times in my career as a ped – punched or hammered or kicked cars that almost killed or maimed me – but I can’t say I’ve ever done so with the express wish that the driver would stop the car and we could get into a fistfight. I fact it only ever happened once that the driver stopped, but then he thought better of it and left. Which was a great plan, and I’m not saying I would’ve won the fight either.

I know why *I* have hammered or kicked a vehicle in those situations – it’s because I’ve been in a momentary unthinking rage at almost being whacked. There hasn’t been any thought process about having a discussion with the driver. That seems pretty silly…what exactly are they going to say anyway, “sorry for being stupid?”
