To the woman walking her two dogs in the off leash area of Shubie on Sunday night:
Thanks so much for letting your large OFF LEASH Boxer(?) dog attack my small beagle mix dog. Thanks for not being able to get your dog under control. Thanks for not apologizing & simply asking ‘is he ok?’
I don’t know if the guy who managed to get your dog off mine was even with you, seeing as I was busy screaming my fool head off in my panic… I don’t think he was with you so, whoever he was, he has my gratitude.
You shouldn’t own a dog you can’t physically control if you need to. I hate to think what could have happened if that guy hadn’t been there.
My dog was on a leash (he’s a beagle-so he would wander off) and even though we were in an off-leash area of the park doesn’t mean you have the right to let your aggressive dog roam free – and if you didn’t know he was aggressive before – YOU DO NOW.
Your lucky I was so afraid of your dog & was still shaking or else I would have said a hell of a lot more to you than mumbling “he’s fine” in response to your question and then hurrying away from you.
My panic in the moment is keeping me from remembering what you look like but I remember your dogs and they’d better not be off leash again in that park while I’m there or I will report you. —Should have followed you to your car & got your plate number

Your dog was being attacked and you just watched?
Imagine that! Finding a big dog off leash in an off leash area. If it was so big why didn’t you and your beagle see it coming and AVOID the big, scary dog? Your beagle requires a run up a single flight of stairs to get a full work out. The big dog requires the bigger public space. Do the math then go feed the geese with leash in hand.
I use the internet to make other people feel small! I use any excuse to fly off the handle! I will argue whichever side will allow me to be a jerk! I would never be such an ass in real life so I use anonymous message boards to feel like a big, scary, cool person!!!
No, I did not just watch, I was screaming at her -THE DOGS OWNER-to help me. I might have been in a panic & terrified for my puppy, but I still knew enough to NOT GRAB a strangers aggressive attacking dog….duh. All 100 pounds of me vs. a 70/80lbs Boxer….yeah, that’d do it.

*KAY:
– What a stupid frigging thing to say. I truly hope you don’t own dogs.
The boxer was not visable btw, it came barrelling up from the lake through the trees. Besides, it’s a public park, why on earth should I have to avoid anything in a public park? My dog has the same right to be exercised. I’m there to let my [very friendly] dog socialize & walk with me – NOT get attacked by an off leash animal with an owner that cannot control it.
What if this Boxer “that needs his space to excersise’ decided a young child looked tasty or threatening and took a chomp out of him/her? Would that be the kids fault for walking in an off leash area?

It’s very simple-leash your dog if you can’t control it. Those are the rules of the park anyway. Follow them. Period.
i love dogs, but boxers are big goofs until they’re about five. they are very people/child friendly unfortunately like some other breeds they can be very dog aggressive. owners: know your dog and never ever show fear to a strange dog. grrrrr
I agree witht the OP. If you cant control your dog dont let him go off leash. Yes it is off leash area, not a bully ground
even off leash there are rules. Call 490-4000 and report her and her dog. They’re on call 24 hours, especially for agressive dogs!
Hmmm…..I’ve walked my dog at Shubie for years and never had a problem with off-leash areas. I am led to believe this didn’t even happen otherwise other dog-walkers would have talked about it.
So, you’re not the person to call in the time of an emergency? You need some serious help about dealing with your panic attacks because you’re a useless fuck who needed a perfect stranger to get between your dog and a big vicious attacking dog.
I hate agreeing with Kay, but it was an off-leash area so expect off-leash dogs, dogs who might be perfectly fine around most other people and other animals but might, just might, attack another dog because dogs are animals and are not predictable.
On top of that, you simply fucking left because you were shaking? You’re a fucking wimp on top of being a spaz and completely ignorant about off-leash areas for dogs.
I think I hate you and I think you need to be banned from owning pets, you’re too stupid.
I had a similar thing happen to me, except it was at York Redoubt, which is an ON LEASH AT ALL TIMES park. I brought my Chihuahua to the park for a walk, and we were having lots of fun minding our own business when a white/beige doodle of some sort came for my dog while its owners lazily wandered down the path. When I finally got their dog off my dog and they came and took it away I had to snarkily say “THIS IS WHY IT IS AN ON LEASH PARK!” if I was bigger and scarier I would have put the fear of god into them. Thankfully, my dog was fine, but Jesus Christ people, if your dog has a tendency to attack, KEEP IT ON A FUCKING LEASH, especially when you’re legally supposed to.

That was such a nonsensical post/rant that I can’t even bother to respond to it.
I agree monkey pants..and OP…two comments on this post are just completely idiotic…sterilization definitely has its uses…someone make a call…next thing you know some of these more sadistic dog owners are going to keep buying bigger more agressive dogs and treat these offleash areas like their own personal dogfighting grounds, taking bets with friends on how the upcoming beagle will fare against their prized baby killer…some dogs should never be off leash….period…and some breeds should never be allowed in domestic households…
The two of you are fucking morons if you don’t understand that dogs can be perfectly friendly most of the time and completely snap just once. You’re also fucking morons if you think that the OP isn’t a completely useless spaz.
no I agree with you Pavillion…those are the dogs we are talking about..those are the dogs that make headlines…when one discovers they have one of these dogs it is the day they discover their off-leash days are over…they arent the rule they are the exceptions to it..could not have put it better..ty for the assist..
Don’t have the energy to respond to all of the ignorance and the know-it-all assholes in this thread, but I’ll just say that the owner of the boxer is in the wrong. Yes, it’s an off leash area, but if you can’t stop your dog from launching at another person or dog, they don’t have the right to be off leash.
I own a young, very energetic, playfull pitbull mix and I don’t bother taking him to off leash areas for excercise, because I don’t yet have the confidence I need in him to stop when I tell him to. A lot of the time he will listen and come right to me when I call him, but he isn’t fully where I’d like him to be yet, so I don’t risk it. With my little guy, the main thing I don’t like risking, is him jumping on people to lick their face.
