You’re talking about post 9/11 U.S. OP. The NYPD are arresting people for wearing masks (against a city by-law), walking on the Brooklyn Bridge and apparently sometimes for no reason at all.
The cops are commandeering buses against the bus driver’s will to transport loads of protestors to lockup.
Paranoia is rampant south of the border. The flirtation with fascism the Bush administration had really has turned that country quite vindictive. I’m not talking about the citizens, more the leaders.
Even under Obama, a suspected American-born terrorist was targeted and killed in a drone attack. Due process for an American? No. They don’t have to prove anything, just take their word for it. He’s a terrorist.
These protests going on are about corporate greed not foreign policy but it kind of underscores the level of corruption going on in that country.
