To the woman that pulled over your black minivan at the bus stop at the corner of Dunbrack and Main streets one morning this weekend to get out, open the hatchback and beat your dog: Shame on you!
You are lucky I am not of the generation that has the reflex to pull out a phone and videotape, because that poor pup would be taken away from you! As for your excuse, “I’m just punishing him for getting into something he shouldn’t be”, then don’t put stuff he shouldn’t have near him! As for, “It’s only what his mother would do”, NO! His mother would grab his scruff and give a shake, NOT hit him several times, so hard that I could hear the smacks across four lanes. How ironic that a mother dog, aka bitch, punishing its pup, is more humane than you. It’s probably a good thing that I froze in anger and yelled at you, otherwise I’d be standing in front of a judge with an assault charge—and I would NOT be apologizing!

You’re not in the generation that can jot down a license plate? I’d assume if you’re not in the phone recording generation, you’re likely in the bystander generation that stood by as all kinds of shitty things happened to people around you. Good on you.
Maybe next time you witness something awful happening you could let someone nearby know, so they can be a better person for you.
Wow. Sorry, I forgot my cape and X-ray glasses at home. Yelling at someone and stopping them from beating their dog is hardly being a bystander. As stated, I was across the street and wasn’t able to run across 4 lanes of traffic. I was also sideways to the vehicle and could not see the license plate, and besides, she was standing in front of it. The only other person that was around only came along after she sped off. I’ll be sure to pack my cape from now on!
Colleen, in your bitch you claim to speak to this woman yet in your excuse, you are across the street.
Now what are we supposed to believe?
@ Colleen, I’m sure you did what is expected of most people and maybe even a bit more than most people would do. Bucca is right though, harming an animal is an offence and it would have been great to get the license plate number and report them to the authorities for the sake of that poor dog. For certain, if I saw someone beating a dog as viciously as you describe, I would have made my way over to that scene and gotten as much detail as possible or just called the police on the spot. Maybe you didn’t think to do this or were too afraid to intervene but at least you did something.
@ Bucca, that was some firey sauce, you win commenter-of-the-year in this forum.
I was the school crossing guard at that corner for fifteen years, up until about five years ago. Even though it would have been outside the requirements of my job if I had seen something like that I would be right on the phone to my boss–since the crossing guards work for the police. But I know what you mean about not being in a position to see a license plate. So many times in this years I wanted to report a bad driver but circumstances prevented me, the same as they did you.
