I really can’t believe that you never heard anything about child workers, slavery, etc. until recently. Was I the only one who went to socially conscious school? I had this information spoon fed to me from the age of 7. There are hot lists of companies that use said labour, and socially groups (like Save the Children) who work to educate the public. Even Lindsey Lohan did a documentary about it.
It sucks when you figure out that a brand that you are fond of uses business practices you don’t agree with but that doesn’t mean you should harass fellow customers or employees in the grocery store OP. Chances are the people you are telling either aren’t socially conscious or aren’t in a position to do anything about it. You however, are you in a position to do something. Educate yourself and don’t buy products that come from companies that have business practices you don’t agree with. Capitalism works both ways, if people don’t buy a product or from a business then it will be removed from stores. The only thing you can do is be an informed consumer… throwing a tantrum in a grocery store just makes you look like a jackass.

Why not devote your time instead to actually learning about these problems in depth so that you can engage people in calm rational discussions about them? Or why not try to help instead of whipping up a forum frenzy? There are a number of great organizations out there that are pushing for better corporate accountability and ethics, they touch issues that span from human rights to environmental concerns.
