To the Friday morning mini-van driver with the license plate starting with DCK: I did everything a road bike commuter must do—I checked behind me, and then gave the turn signal that I was turning my bike out of the Bell St bike lane into the left turning lane at Sackville. I could hear you bearing down on me even when I was fully in the left lane. Without missing a beat you swung into the other lane around me and then cut back in front of me to turn left! I have been a year round bike commuter for seven years now, and no amount of experience biking in traffic make this intersection a comfortable trip each morning. You, Mr. DCK, drove irresponsibly and left someone shaking in their boots and angry for the next hour over the idiocy that you demonstrated simply to get a car length ahead. Have some respect for everyone on the road you jerk! —Shaken and ticked off

Was the last part of the plate “HD”…?
Get over it. The lead footed drivers in this backwater burg have absolutely no fucking consideration for cyclists, pedestrians or other drivers. They don’t care. They don’t care about you, they don’t care that they cut you off because, as far as they’re concerned, you’re just in the fucking way. All they care about is themselves until someone plows into them. Then they’ll wail to beat the band but only then.
That sucks. Next time call the non emergency line for Hfx police and give them the full plate number. They paid a visit to the last lady who almost ran me down in a crosswalk (light was on, others were stopped) and she was one complaint away from having her license taken away. Get these idiots off the road before they kill someone.
get a helmet cam so you have video evidence. then you have more than your word against their word.
When you are quite certain there was a driving violation and you get the plate number then call or email police. Ideally, you would have witnesses to corroborate your story but, if not, call anyway.
They will give the driver a call. The driver will most likely deny any culpability but it might get them to slow down a little and be more cautious. You might save someone’s life by preventing an accident..
Anyway, see the “incident report” phone number and online reporting instructions.

The police should have better things to do than to call drivers and make idle threats
You’re on a bike, you passive aggressive moron, swing out around and land in front of the fuckin van! Playing the fucken victim again, knowing full well that people are assholes on the road, should have expected it. Seen lots of idiots on bikes too, lots of ’em. Calling the cops will solve nothing, you have no evidence.
