Warning to all Good Samaritans of HRM: there is a scam artist prowling your streets, looking to prey on your compassion and faith in humanity. She pulled her scam on me last summer, and recently tried to do the same thing to my friend as we were leaving a Moose Heads game. If you see her, she’ll likely be outside, in an area of heavy pedestrian traffic. If she approaches you, the first words out of her mouth will be something like “I’m in a real bind…” Then she’ll tell you some sob story about how her car was impounded and she has no money to get it out. She’ll offer to take your name and address so she can mail you the money she owes you. After I gave her my money, she asked me if I had a pen and paper to write down my info, but I had neither, and at that point I realized I had been scammed, and just walked away saying “keep the money”. This woman is in her late twenties or early thirties, approximately 5’9”, heavy set, maybe 170 pounds, with brown hair tied back, freckles and a pointy nose.
To the woman at large: I hope you don’t get arrested. I’m only warning people so they don’t lose their hard-earned money to you. But the police must know about you by now, and you must be getting pretty desperate to get your fix, whatever it is (drugs? gambling?) to pull that shit so close to the police station. I hope you feel sorry for ripping off kind-hearted people, and that you get the help you need. —The Good Samaritan

  1. I’m glad I’m tighter than a hen’s hole with moola. The Queen Lizs on my $20 bills blink from the light everytime I open my wallet.

  2. Oops, my bad. Last time I skim through a bitch. I guess she’s a bigger idiot than I had first thought. After revisiting the evidence, she’s a complete moron.

  3. I have definitely seen her. My friend handed her 20 bucks despite my protest… he wrote down her information but he didn’t really seem to want it back. He was from a different country where he said giving money to people who needed it was what they did or something.. but she definitely doesn’t need it because I’ve seen her tell this story to me twice, not recognizing me. She also will say she needs change for the bus and refuses to take tickets, but I see since they have been on strike she changed her story to something about a car haha!

  4. You fuckin country rube. Thanks for making sure Halifax’s junkies and crackheads get more free drugs.

  5. *sigh* I’m not even going to bother calling OB an idiot here… she’s obviously, like sodey suggested, too country bumpkin to realize and honestly thought she was doing a good deed.

She’s the kind of moron you pat on the head and give a cookie too rather than disparage.

    You poor poor thing 🙁

  6. lol @ TTFN. Reminds me of an old saying I’ve heard my dad say on occasion…

“He pinches a nickel ’til the beaver shits”

(Sorry for interupting the flow of responses. It just popped into my head.
You may all now carry on as if you were normal.)

  7. Everyone’s got a scam, too bad you fell for hers. People have been taking advantage of others forever.

  8. Could you describe yourself OB? That way I know which sucker to rip off next time I’m walking downtown.

  9. Yeah she sounds just as bad as the ones who call and claim to be from mircosoft. Fucking spammers are everywhere and annoying! Thanks for the heads up. This woman wouldn’t get a cent out of me anyway cause all my money go towards bills and food now.

  10. i guess bird yanked a comment i just made, because it had a certain word in it, denoting seb. sorry bird, but he is one of those piles of sticks. we all know and love to dis on him.

  11. There are pan handling laws that will get her busted someday. For example, she is not allowed to step towards someone.
