Dear university students who somehow manage to claim all the apartments in this city and leave them open for ‘two months of summer’ but still somehow retain the rights to the lease after that: Fuck you. —About to be Homeless

  1. Dear OP, its called a sublet, they still own the lease, they just sublet it to you. Its totally up to the lease holder if they want to renew come their lease anniversary, which guess what, they do. If you aren’t subletting from them, guess what as long as they pay the rent, they keep the lease. Sucks to be you.

  2. If they got a lease they got a lease, it’s theirs. If I want to rent an apartment and leave it empty, that’s my right as long as I pay the rent.

  3. I do feel your pain, OP but if they didn’t do that, they would be homeless too. I HATE HATE looking for apartments as well and my current lease is going to end in September, when school starts, so you can imagine the hell I had to go through. But alas, I finally found an apartment right downtown 😀 :D! And it’s a wicked price and just so awwwwesome. Some would say it’s small, but luckily I can maneuver in small crevices 🙂

  4. it is either sub-lettig or someone stays there til they get back. then again, it might be prepaid rent. what the hell does it matter o.p.?

  5. Try looking harder or live somewhere else. Anyone has a right to sublet and this happens to be a city with a high student population.
