I was shocked and disgusted to hear about the vandalizing of 29-ish HRM bus shelters a couple of weeks back, with tons of broken glass to clean up and replace. But isn’t it time HRM started making bus shelters out of UNBREAKABLE material? What about the plexiglass-type stuff they use in hockey arenas? Also known as common sense. —Long-time transit rider

The new iTransitShelter by Apple has unbreakable glass. I’m sure.
OB, they’ve considered this, a simple google to the news stories about this would likely pull up their reasoning. Common sense my ass
Plexiglas fogs up over time and messes with visibility. That said, I think it would be no great mischief if the city were to remove a few of those shelters to encourage transit users to prepare better for the wait time at the bus stop. It would also be no great mischief if a few windshields along the Arm and up the hills were smashed to bits in retaliation. The difference lies in who would have to pay for it.
Hey HalKell, tell me where you park your car and I will be happy to oblige.
Well that would be ideal and less expensive in the long run but we usually elect short-sighted official who aren’t concerned with our welfare or the welfare of our infrastructure.
Case and point, transit is still as terrible, if not worse, than what it was 10 years ago!
Oooooo, I can’t wait to see the looming ATU contract negotiation. My guess is the bus drivers will say how terrible their jobs are, while fighting tooth and nail to keep the status quo, but for more money. Lol, who’s up for the next round of ‘swing and a miss’, by another ridiculous union “negotiating” with a list of wants and no concessions?
