So my roommate works at a gas station and one of the only ones that has two gas pumpers on shift together. I guess him and a buddy were smoking a joint at about 11:30 taking turns in his car. Some assfuck in the building behind them actually makes a video on his cell phone and comes back to talk the owner. They both got fired now he’s gonna be short on bills and rent. Who the fuck cares if someone gets high? Fucking surprising how many people do and they said at a christmas party the owner was even getting high on a smoke break. Hypocrites and cowards with cell phones. Even if theirs an accident no one helps just break out the phone to make a video. —Societys fucked

Yea…getting high at work means getting fired, plain and simple. If you really need to for a mundane job, maybe try a one-hitter to be more discrete?
I like gettin’ blitzed as much as the next troll… but from the owners point of view he/she is paying your friend to not only be away from work but to use an illegal substance on his property. Add said video into the mix and he’s responsible legally because he now knows it’s going on and if anything happens an insurance company can fuck his life over if said video was ever sent to the insurance company along with proof it was sent to him/her. The owner might not have minded the pot, and it surely wasn’t hurting anyone but the owner sure did the smart thing.
Maybe something wacky happened too like pot plants killed their family and now he hates pot smokers.
Either scenario your buddy should just take his licks and get a new job, it’s not like he lost a lot of reputation fucking up a gas pumping career. Good news is that to get a job equivalent of pumping gas requires no references, so he should have no problem finding some other job that pays the same.

if something happened while the employees were under an influence, like loss of life, a hazardous material spill, explosion, fire, cardiac arrest etc etc, and the employees were not in a sober state the world would end if it was found out in the investigation. People always like to play the “its harmless” card. they are ignorant for doing so. So ignorant that they have no regard for the owner and the shit storm that legal wranglers can bring down in the case (however remote) that something happened. From experience, having employees behave in a selfish, irresponsible manner like this, has serious implications.

Sorry, OB. No sympathy from me; he was smoking an illegal substance in an area with a high risk of fire and/or explosion and was derelict in his duties while on shift. I can’t believe that someone in this economy would do something so stupid and expect sympathy for their plight.
