I certainly feel this is worth a grand bitch!
Recently received a traffic ticket. The officer giving me the ticket, though not warranted considering the logic behind the ticket makes no sense what so ever, advised that if I feel I shouldn’t be given this ticket that I can contact the number listed on the “Front” of the ticket to enter a plea. I also check the back of the ticket and this is what’s printed on the back of the ticket:
“OPTION #2 – NOTICE OF INTENT TO APPEAR IN COURT
If you wish to Plea Not Guilty and have a trial, or Plea Guilty and make a submission as a penalty, or Plea Guilty where no amount is specified in the summons, you must contact the court and file a Notice of Intent to appear in Court. To do this, contact the Court indicated on the front of the Summons”
When the number is dialled, you get an automated machine giving you a bunch of options, none are related to Summons, but more contact information for Cape Breton and HRM Courts. When you choose HRM, you get phone and fax for Dartmouth and Halifax courts then disconnects. Once you contact the required court to get information about the Summons and to enter a Plea as advised on the Summons, the person in the Court advises you that they can’t do that and you’d have to go to Court and do it in person.
Why The FUCK is the number on the Summons and Why the FUCK are cops ill-informed? Why is it written on the Summons to call that stupid number! Also if you’re a resident of HRM or CBRM, you have no other option but to pay the ticket unless you’re willing to travel to the nearest Court! TALK ABOUT A MONEY GRAB!!!! Summons are given based on the discretion of the officer, whether it’s deserved or not, it doesn’t matter. How fucked up is that?!!!! — PUNKASS PROVINCE!

Appeal all you wish, they will not withdraw the ticket. Consider the time you’ll put into fighting it and multiply that by your hourly rate of pay – that’s the cost to you. To them? Nothing. Pay it and be careful the next time.
OB, it sounds like calling that number led you to the correct information and process. Why would that be a valid complaint?
So parking enforcement (in my opinion) is setup deliberately to make life as difficult as humanly possible where the only easy option is to pay the ticket. Anyone who tries to resist will find they are presented with epic hoops to get justice and you’ll find everyone you deal with in the process of jumping through those hoops treats you as though you just committed murder.
You should see what happens when your vehicle is towed! Oh SWEET JESUS!!! That happened to me once…I had parked in the winter (in a parking zone) on the street but apparently there was a driveway leading into a vacant lot (which wasn’t being used) that was completely and totally covered with snow by the plow so I couldn’t see the entrance and parked across it. So they towed the vehicle! They didn’t HAVE to tow it…but technically they could so they did.
When I tried to have the vehicle released by the HRM Police, the bitch behind the window thought she was going to play games and try to tell me that the asshole at the impound yard wasn’t at his desk (bullshit, I just came from there…and you’re not telepathic) and so she couldn’t get the papers.
One thing led to another and I was finally forced to threaten to call 911 and report the vehicle stolen if she couldn’t come up with proof (this is the next day by the way…so they absolutely had the papers) that the police impounded the vehicle. That got her ass moving…she had that file number lickity split. Then she tried to tell me my Registration had expired…LOL!!! She had the paper right in her hand…it was good for another year, but nope…she was determined to try to trip me up and make life as difficult as possible…no matter how stupid she made herself look.
The people in front of me were also treated with equal disdain (nothing to do with having their vehicle towed but rather matters far more pressing).
So…to conclude, this is all part of living in the city. Parking enforcement is a game…and if you don’t play it they way they want you to, expect resistance.
Clearly, this is your mother’s fault.
My mother taught me not to park where I am not supposed to. And, should i make a mistake, then owe up to the fact that it is my mistake, not anyone else.
stop being a dick behind the wheel. pay the fine you entitled twit.
