The other bright sunny day on the overpass across Alderney to the escalator to the library a young comic book couple made fun of a nice lady with challenges. They started yelling retard at her, she became so upset she told them to fuck off in marbled speech. They then started telling her to fuck off over and over. When we all got off the elevator in front of the library the couple went to the security guard and said she was causing a fuss. The guard proceeded to follow the woman into the library, speak to the staff. I told the guard and staff how the couple had been treating her. So unkind to make fun of a woman with challenges and doubly unkind and uncompassionate to seek security against someone with challenges. It was the so-called ‘normal’ couple who should have been taken in by security for unkindness. What is with police and security falsely harassing the mental health population??? We need a compassion for mental health education seminar for people, police and security. —Kindness People!

  1. I really don’t get how people can do this kind of vile shit. What kind of fucking animals must you be to taunt and torment someone with mental health issues?

  2. While what they did was terrible, I really don’t think a “compassion for mental health education seminar” will help, or that the security guard is necessarily at fault. For one, that seminar sounds an awful lot like sensitivity training, which is a bunch of bullshit, and as far as I can tell, the security guard was just doing his job and acting on the information he had.

  3. The whole thing name calling aside, how is the security at fault, they didn’t see the beginning of the problem and reacted to a complaint by the people whe apparently started it. You did the right thing to tell the sercurity what you witnessed but did the mentally challenged lady get in trouble, did the comic couple stick around, maybe it’s me but it seems there is missing parts to this story

  4. Missing parts to the story – YES!! Like the part where OP takes a stand on behalf of the mentally disabled woman and tells the comic couple to go get fucked. But my hat is off to you for going to the security guard and explaining the real story. I just think you should have tried to step in before that.

  5. Once again the world lives in 2011, while Nova Scotia is still stuck in the 1950’s and the worst thing is that it’s the younger generation doing it, we were supposed to learn from our mistakes, not perpetuate them. If it wasn’t for donairs and sista’s I’d never go back.

  6. I call bullshit. Get your story straight, you said you were on an escalator and than you got off the elevator.

  7. sista’s?
I’ll just take a double helping of donair thanx.

    sista’s only be causin’ trouble.

  8. What is in someone’s head that they would treat a person with a disability like this? They need a beating, not “sensitivity training”. I don’t always think sending idiots/bigots to a class “fixes” or even “educates” them. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, and sometimes an asshole is just an asshole. Unredeemably so. When they say things like they did, it’s up to ALL OF US to speak up, and call them out on their behaviour.
Did you say anything to the assholes, OP?

  9. boy those like and dislike buttons are still a little wonky.
it seems whatever you first pick is what counts so careful clicking out there…
    there’s no changing your mind.

I would have thought they’d go the way of the giz and have stars etc attributed to the better posters, etc….
though the ‘reg’ way of plus n minus for comments should provide another interesting dynamic.

  10. “What kind of fucking animals must you be to taunt and torment someone with mental health issues?” – But, but, TTFN, I ‘taunt and torment’ Sméagol.

  11. So what did security say to the library staff? Were they making fun of the woman or did he tell them to keep an eye on her because she was upset because she had been harrassed by a couple of asshole, or you didn’t hear and making assumptions of a sort.

  12. Security was probably now aware that the couple started it. So of course he/she will assume the old woman started it. The couple was cruel for doing so but its not the securitys fault.

  13. Oh and one big thing to consider since I know people who work in Security. They do not get paid enough to put that much effort in to preventing problems.

  14. Sebbie was dressed up as Santorum Claus on the Pride Float Saturday Night. His sleigh was drawn not by 8 tiny reindeer, but by 8 “bears” wearing overly elaborate harnesses.

  15. That’s horrible OP!! People can be downright disgusting! I’m glad that you went to the security guard, and don’t worry OP, Karma will catch up with those losers!
