Despite playing within their guidelines fees are coming at me from all angles- banking especially. Perhaps you are experiencing the same thing?
Isn’t time they get some push back? Or all we going to roll over? When is enough enough? How can I initiate the process of ending predatory fees?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. —Michael

Presidents Choice and Tangerine offer no fee banking
Bury your cash!
Nickel and diming (service fees etc.) is a sign the business is making great profits. They charge for everything, because they can.
Free things (incentives, discounts, on-sales) is a sign the business is on very tight margins. They “appear” to give stuff away in order to scratch out a business.
I agree with a previous responder….choose a bank that offers no-fee banking such as PC or a Credit union.
For all other fees that you can’t really avoid but have the choice to do business with that corporation, you have to make choices about whether or not you actually want to do business with them.
If you can limit the services you use that require these fees, and are left with only fees you can’t avoid it makes things a little easier. At least you’re trying to take control.
Yeah except President’s Choice refused to give me overdraft protection, bounced a rent cheque on me for lack of 80 cents…but when student loans decided to start dipping into my bank account, all of a sudden it was able to go hundreds of dollars into the red.
Call your bank. Most banks can take a look and see how they can save you fees.
