  1. I’ve seen cars on my street being towed because of the parking ban, but the street hasn’t still been plowed since Monday’s storm. It looks just as bad as it did then. And I live in downtown Halifax. How is it that we have more tow trucks than snow plows?

  2. I fell on Granville yesterday because some fucking van was in the crosswalk, wouldn’t let me cross in front of him so I slipped on the road while crossing behind him, inches from this cocksucker’s back wheels. My back is fucked up and my left hand is battered and bruised because a) this fucking useless city does a half ass job of clearing high traffic downtown roads – sheets of ice everywhere and thousand of downtown workers risking life and limb to cross the street and b) fucking asshole drivers who don’t drive for the conditions, don’t care about anyone but themselves and think they are immune from the rules of the road. So thanks a lot, you cocksuckers, for ruining my Christmas. And thanks to the cunts who watched this happen and just gawked at me while I scrambled to get up. Thanks for your Christmas spirit.

  3. Thanks, Floyd. I have never witnessed so much bad driving as I have in the last few weeks. Add ice to a bunch of inconsiderate a-holes and you’ve got a recipe for falling down pedestrians. Anyway, I’ll tend the back and hand with a few tumblers of rye and coke, roll a nice fat one and let the pain take a fucking hike for a few hours. Ho-Ho-Ho, guys, I hope all you bitches have an awesome Christmas and a Happy Keiths Beer.

  4. Kristin, what you are experiencing is the famous “good enough” Halifax attitude, ingrained deeply into our psyche after generations of living with the idea that we cannot afford to do things the right way. So we have a joke of a snowclearing job with little or no sand/salt spread, because TPTB know that it is going to rain tonight so why bother? It is the same attitude that causes our streets to be designed so poorly and our transit service to be run so badly. But they can spend $50K on printing goddam calendars to mail out to every property in town.

  5. Dear Kristen, dieing will only get the powers that be (but do almost nothing…nothing but take home fat paychecks for zero effort) to look at the ice filled streets & appoint a group of like minded (like them) too ‘look’ into the problem. But if you actually believe complaining is going to help, well you better not hold your breath. If you think they will come back with a solution, it will be to point he finger of blame in 99 directions.THe one really good thing about LTWWB is almost all of the plowing & parking stupidity problems seem to be Halifax Penninsula related, makes me really happy to be living out in the sticks of the HRM. Don’t get me wrong, our snow plowing, ice removal is just as bad if not worse than yours, but we’ve got lot’s of room to park, there are no sidewalks to shovel, & pedestrians are NOT walking on the roads .Unless they have a death wish.So everyone be careful out there, remember most sheeple are as smart & just as caring as a bag of potatoes and have yourselves a merry holiday season.

  6. Seriously, what are our taxes paying for? Broken hips and cracked heads? I was coming down the sidewalk today next to the Metro Centre and slid halfway down the hill luckily without injury, but I would hate to see what would happen with someone who isn’t as able bodied. And the streets? Does clearing snow include letting the snow get rained on, turned into a skating rink then leaving it there? I have not seen one plow come down my street since winter started. Heckuva job HRM! (And yes, you are as bad as FEMA)

  7. Agreed. If it’s a matter of not having the funding, why not take a good old chunk out of our counsel members pays, or many of the other highly paid city officials that gouge us for making their asses fatter!! I mean come on, they park in parade square! I don’t think that is what it is intended for! bah!

  8. I might have been the wipeout victim you saw ( around 1pm). Three people helped me up, many thanks to them. I’m fine, but it was hard to get on my feet, because I couldn’t find a patch of NON ice to get my footing. i also saw others on SGR wiping out. It was quite hazardous out. It’s ridiculous. The first year I was here, salt was down the instant it started to snow. What happened? HRM use up all that salt that winter?

  9. Bitch is taking the day offHey all, I’m having problems accessing the admin functions remotely, so this Christmas Day there won’t be any new bitches posted. I hope to get back on tomorrow, and all will be back to normal. Sorry for the inconvienence. And, ho, ho, ho, or whatever your version of it is.

  10. First off, I have to agree with you as to the shoddiness of the plowing and salting this year. It’s worse than usual. However, I disagree that funding is the excuse given. The trouble is with the companies that are being hired to do the work. The majority of HRM’s plowing is contracted out. The HRM can only hire companies who submit bids on the tenders that are put out to request plowers. The problem is, the companies that submit bids, suck. All the Streets department can do is penalize the companies when they don’t perform to standards, cancelling the contract is a last resort because it is too difficult to get replacements. There isn’t enough equipment available now, which is another reason this year is worse than usual, and this was with a recent call for tender to get more equipment. Hardly anyone responded. So, the excuse isn’t money, it’s the HRM being tied to contractors who don’t do good work. It would be a lot worse if the contracts were cancelled and there was no plowing at all going on.
