Why do people who work in certain pizza shops think it’s alright to have a complete lack of manners and customer service? Taking my order of the phone and just being such a fuckface about it that I actually cancel my order? —Last Time You Hear From This West-Ender

Glad you cancelled the order. Did you tell them why? Lately I have been providing feedback to businesses and I hope they take the criticism constructively.
I agree with OSG – the owner should know that employing such people is bad for business. Your feedback might get you a discount on your next visit or a free pizza.
Not just pizza shops that this happens. Many places now seem to have staff that probably have not had any training in ‘customer service’. But have just been released behind a counter as they are.
Also, many people now often have not learned verbal skills to speak and communicate with people face to face let alone been taught how to compose and write a sentence either. Many seem to be only used to communicating via text or grunts. And this is not just younger people either but can be of any age. There are still good and bright employees in front line positions but more often it seems to be the other type appearing to ‘serve’ customers.
Though sometimes it is not a case of training new staff as in some places even the owners act as the OP says. Then one can only hope that the herd will be culled by lack of business, if complaints and suggestions do not work.
My local pizza hole is staffed by a bunch of scurvy urban marauder dartbags. The owners pay them peanuts so they act like monkeys and dont give a flying f#!k customer service. People still pile in til the wee hours of morning to gag on d’onairs and old pizza slices.
It is easier to keep a customer than it is to find a new customer. If I was the manager and someone complained to me, I may not fly off the handle at my employee, but it would certainly get my attention. If it happens often enough, then the employee is gone.
