To the rude server at the place with a zillion beers on tap: perhaps you should actually read the NS alcohol and gaming laws before insisting that each person, including a 16 month old order a full meal in order to be served. Seriously? Refusing service to a loyal family, wanting nachos at 4 pm on a Wednesday? Have been going here for 14 years, and now never again. Thanks to the other place up the road that welcomed us with open arms, cold brew, baby and all. —RIP Tourism Industry

I wouldn’t throw out the baby out with the bathwater.(Maybe that wasn’t the appropriate cliche.) Talk to the manager of this place, explain your indignation and maybe it won’t happen.
Good thing that you left RIP, the last time (and I mean the last time) I went to MP, 45min after my order was taken, still no Nachos. Fuckers tried to bill me when I walked out. One of the kids that was working for me at he time, waited (I don’t know why) for over a hour for a Cesar salad.
There’s better, and cheaper establishments, the only thing that place has going for them is the beer on tap.
ever since the great peanut famine, I’ve not wanted to return to this place.
shame…. I loved it there.
Yeah I always found the service there pretty bad. Sometimes it was fine but most times it was shitty. My good friend used to live right around the corner and wouldn’t even go there. Was the place you went to after they refused you the Midtown by any chance OP? Definition of service with a smile.
OP, why are you taking a 16 month old to a bar/pub? How irresponsible!
Sebastard, there is no difference between a bar or a licence restaurant at four in the afternoon.
Haven’t been to this establishment since they served me completely frozen chicken fingers and cold fries then had the balls to try to bill me for it when I refused to eat it. Surprised the shithole stays open with all the stories I like this that I hear about it.
Not surprised in the least. All I have to say is the morons who support this establishment are not doing any favors. It is by far the worst stinkhole in all of HRM.
4Pm is getting close to prime time. If you are going to be taking up a seat, then at least have the decency to order something.
– Hungry and waiting for an empty seat
4pm isn’t close to prime time unless you’re 60+ and there for the early bird special.
I would talk to the manager or just never go back there again. It’s a service industry.
I went to a restaurant near the rotary for brunch. One person out of the three wanted to order lunch, we were told that all the people at the table had to order off the same menu ( the brunch menu or the regular menu ). I still can’t figure out what difference that could possibly make, needless to say, I have never been back.
Having worked in a restaurant before, I know that 4-6 is usually the slower part of the day… so, no, it’s not primetime. And a 16 month old isn’t just “taking up a seat”. Christ.
MP is awful. I hate that place. Everytime I’ve gone in there it’s overcrowded, uncomfortable, and the servers are bitches. I went there once with a few friends and ended up not ordering anything because I thought our server was a raging bitch.
I went to the same spot once for the $5 burger/fries combo where you had to order before 5 p.m. We ordered at 4:40 but the computerized cash register was set 25 minutes ahead so it was reading 5:05. They still attempted to bill us the full price and argued with us for nearly the entire time we were there.
They shut up when we said we’re prepared to pay for the beer and only $5.75 for the food as it was well before the deadline time. Sometimes you just have to be firm with servers and management who are in the wrong.
