He lets two in against GERMANY, and people are touting him as an awesome goalie. Brodeur made some awesome saves in the US game, and if he stayed in his net, he’d have won us gold. Keeping Luongo in will kill us. We now have no chance in this tournament. —Defeated Already

Given Brodeur’s horrible performance in the USA:CAD game, he deserves to be left out. Luongo did well last night. Brodeur’s biggest fault is his fear of staying in front of the net…..is he afraid of pucks?
Y’know, goals happen, against even the best goalies. I agree with Sebastian – Luongo did well, and we won regardless, so move on.
I take it we lost? Sorry, not really following the scene….
no cranky, we won i think it was 8 to 2…now we play the russians if we lose that game its curtains
Brodeur in that game, if you watched it, he looked like he was trying to play Cricket with a goalie stick in one of the goals he let in. That is one confused goalie, he deserves to ride the pine for that bonehead maneuver.
sorry the loss wasnt squarely on brodeur. lets see, two goals had 3 canadian players standing in front of him without a hand/stick on any american player. most of canada’s shots on the US goalie were taken at the top half of both faceoff circles. Corey perry made almost NO effort on the final goal, getz”make me laugh” is slow and ineffective and was preyed upon by the US skaters the whole game. the defence couldnt clear the zone when it was in our end. so, squarely there cannot be ONE goat in my mind, when they all played like sheep on that game. Crosby is not and never will be the answer sorry. Just saying…
THEY ALL FUCKING SUCK, HALF DON’T EVEN KNOW WHAT PLANET THEY ARE ON.
sucks. it’s over on friday night…maybe a couple a days of postmortem
Hockey team loses: Boooo! Brodeur sucks! It’s over!
Hockey team wins: Yeeeah! Luongo’s the man! Gold all the way baby!
Bandwagon jumpers are almost the most entertaining thing about these Olympics. They’re certainly the most ridiculous.
I mean Brodeur only has the most wins, shutouts, games played in NHL history, 3 Stanley Cups, and an Olympic gold medal but he MUST suck because of one bad game that didn’t even decide the gold medal.
Haha, exactly dgaf.
is that you boy? he loves brodeur
“if he (Brodeur) stayed in his net, he’d have won us gold.”
Is the tournament over already? Who won? OP, if you’re going to make known your so-called opinions concerning hockey, please have half a clue what you are talking about. Did not Brodeur let in two against SWITZERLAND?? Did not Luongo make some awesome saves in his games? If you think that our chances in the tournament rely solely on our goaltending then I think you are watching the wrong tournament.
Oh, and by the way- for the record; Canada 7 Germany 3. Gosh golly gee….. I don’t see how we EVER would have made out without Brodeur in goal!
That would be Canada 7 *Russia 3 jonnoman, but you’re right anyway.
Brodeur’s great, Luongo’s great. Brodeur had a bad game and if they had left him in, he may have lost confidence and cost Canada the tournament. They made the right decision to put their other world class goaltender in.
I kind of feel bad for Marc Andre Fleury though. Doesn’t get to play a single game in the tournament. Even if they do win the gold, it really won’t mean much to him I bet. They should’ve played him in the opening game against Norway, so he could at least have felt like he contributed…
haha…. it’s a good thing I seemingly know what I’m talking about….
I share the same feelings for Fleury NM… it’s a tough situation when you need to name three goaltenders for the tournament and, while playing him against Norway may have made him felt like he contributed, it would have broken up any potential chemistry for the other two. I say have two goaltenders and then have a list of others for an emergency “on-call” position. Either way, I am sure he has found ways to contribute and just being there will be a great experience for him when he, ultimately, becomes our starting national team goalkeeper.
Agreed with all of that jonnoman.
Whatcha think about Luongo now, OP?
The Luongo decision, choosing him over Martin Brodeur, was moot against Russia. Canada had a 3-0 lead before the game was 13 minutes old, and led 4-1 at the first break. Starting the second it was 6-1… Luongo let in 3 goals on 28 shots…that’s like an .89.
Short tournaments always come down to the goaltender. It’s not the Stanley Cup finals, where you get seven games to determine the outcome. It’s one game elimination.
Can we play the women’s goalie tonight?
The story just might be the goaltenders tonight. Canada are running into a team of giant killers with just as much confidence as them. Not to mention an extremely hot goaltender in Jaroslav Halak (never mind the trade rumors.. I’d rather him over Price anyway…..) This game will be far closer than the Canada-Russia game.
yes i agree jonno. the wmn’s goalie did rock lorilulu…awesome game
