I work at a certain restaurant on Spring Garden Road (the one with the giant yellow “M”). I also happen to be one of the backshift workers, meaning that my shift is 11pm to 7am, which means that every time you get drunk on the weekend and decide to go to my restaurant, I am there to serve you. Which is fine, because I love people. Really, I do. But when you get so drunk that you lean over the counter to grab my face or neck, or you tell me blatantly that I have “nice tits” as you stare at them, or you smear your burgers on the windows, I don’t like you so much. Actually, I fucking hate you. I am not just a fast food worker, I am a human being! You don’t just get to turn off your common human decency when you walk through my doors. Stop treating me like shit when all I’m trying to do is pay my rent! —I Still Won’t Spit In Your Food!

Soooo….do you have nice tits?
A-1 Bitch. People who work downtown after dark need hazard pay, and probably PTSD counselling.
And for those who are inclined to say “Suck it up princess, you chose to work there” I would respond that there is nothing at all unreasonable in desiring a certain basic level of decorum from customers. Nothing much, just enough to prove that evolution is something more than a cute theory.
Here’s to better jobs in the future, OP.
wy dont yu jest sav thum in a bigg bagg an I kin pik em up at dayss end. i dont mined if there cold i can heet em up. all is guid. reely. wy thro out guid foodd.
“…and probably PTSD counselling” – Haha, sooo true
Seriously tho, do you guys exercise any authority over your patrons? If someone is sexually harassing you (with the always classy, “Nice Tits”) and then smearing their burgers on the window (WFT? Run out of Ketchup?) I’m fairly certain you can justify throwing their ass out. What if they give you shit, you ask? Spring Garden also has it’s own security officer, plus a constant police presence, sooo…
Isn’t that what Cory is there for?
I want to play the devils advocate because its fun.
If every fast food patron cleaned up after themselves then every shift would be short at least one worker. So those messes (however annoying) do provide employment. That employment of course being voluntary. I don’t agree with the sexual harrasment, but the fast food drama scenes I’ve witnessed point me towards the Captain’s view. Do you guys exercise any authority over your patrons? Every scene I have witnessed always escalated because a manager was scared to be a manager.
So, back to the messes. If the place is kept clean, why would an employer hire more staff to keep it clean? If you return your shopping cart to the entrance to a store, then someone is not getting paid to do it. If you don’t dump your garbage in mall parking lots, then your impeding someones paycheck. If you don’t piss all over Walmart washrooms then you just got someone laid off.
Keep those messes coming, I hear we’re still recovering from a recession. All jobs are needed!!!
This reminds me of the Subway in wolfville when the Axe let out.
Drunk people can be real dewshknuckles in the wee hours of the morn…
and it’s tough because any amount of public on-the-spot shaming only leads to their further childish and often senseless, erratic behavior.
At McD’s on the backshift, I’d want to work anywhere but the counter.
You have infinitely more patience than the average person, OB.
if someone molests you at work, this is NOT PART OF YOUR JOB DESCRIPTION. It is illegal and is assault. Call the police and have the person removed.
Kirk if you think the mess idiots leave behind is the worst thing about this bitch, you need to re-read it…
I remember the Subway after the Axe….but I wasn’t one of the drunks there, honest 😉 LOL In all seriousness though, I’m totally with Ivan on this one! No one should be treated like this and employees should expect a certainly level of security at their jobs, to prevent this shit from happening. I was in New Glasgow for a sporting event one weekend. We went to McD’s in the early evening. There was a security guard there! We were wondering “WTF? A security guard at McD’s???” Not so funny as they’d had problems with teens disrespecting adults and fighting. So…the idea of a security guard makes total sense. And for SGR, maybe two? People need jobs…….what a good idea! I’d like to be in the corner when this same idiot tries to tell a 6’7″ 260 lb monster “Nice tits!” Valid Bitch, OP!
eats_crayons, you are correct and I briefly touched base on it. Then it was just me being me. I did say, “I want to play the devils advocate because its fun.”
I care alot about peoples jobs and what could cause them to lose their employment, thats all I was getting at.
Have the sot PPA’d (Protection of Private Property) and if he comes in again have him arrested.
o.p., when they do that, that’s when you give them a right cross to the face. you don’t have to take that, it is clearly common assault on their behalk, and means jail time. where the hell is the manager when this happens. they should come running when you start yelling for them.
and if they don’t come, then the fist to the face is better choice, seriosly.
I worked at Pita Boys in the late nineties during the ‘Pita Craze’ on weekends downtown. Now THAT was some shit.
One service industy job was enough for me. Call centres FTW.
Fair enough Kirk. There is NOTHING about this bitch that doesn’t irritate the shit out of me, truth be told.
That’s awful OP. you should really call SG security when these type of ppl are there.
OP and her patron seem to the polar opposite of class and decency.
Whether your manager is a man or a woman, that person needs to grow some balls and deal with these types of customers. If the employees are being harassed, there should be someone there to deal with it … if there isn’t, your manager is not doing their job. I can’t imagine that McDick’s, as a corporation, would expect employees to put up with that kind of behaviour. I don’t know what your avenue is, OB, but there must be one to deal with this.
Op, good for you for staying classy. Your manager needs to step up and protect their employees but you deserve a commendation. Keep your chin up and your head high because you’re a better person than most (judging by your post).
