I was hit this morning in the mirror and handle bar of my bike when I was starting to go at a light.

I was on the side of the road heading into Bayers Lake Park and an orange Pontiac G5 or G6 hit me and kept going. I saw it pull in near Kent but then lost sight of it.

If any of you know this car or are privileged enough to know this person. Could you please ask them to be more considerate of others. If I were any lighter or less stable, I would have been flattened. —Lucky to be in one piece

  1. Did you get the plate number? It’s the first thing I look for. If you were hit, you should have contacted the police to report the incident. But if you are not injured, I assume you don’t really plan on doing anything about it.

  2. I thought of this bitch (which I didn’t get the chance to comment on when it was fresh as I was being cheeky reading it at work in the first place) yesterday, some asshole almost hit me on his way onto the circ on Pleasant Street (hope that jackass in the silver Ford Minivan got wherever he was going on time as he was obviously in such a big rush he wouldn’t have cared if he hit me, I screamed when he rushed past me because I’m sure he was only an inch away!). I didn’t cycle today because I’m such a rage-a-holic that I’m still wound up. I am glad you posted this bitch because it means you didn’t end up on the Record’s “Take the Lane” blog as a “Died on the Ride” post.

  3. Yes, ECHO64, and that reason is not bicycle riding. It’s for walking. That’s why they’re called sideWALKs and not sideRIDEYOURBICYCLEs.

  4. I have an internal debate with myself when I see a bike rider. Part of me wants to just swerve and eliminate you for all the grief you cause drivers but part of me feels bad.

I think if you’re going to ride a bike, please please go out and ride on Sundays or something before you dive into heavy traffic. Your trembly legs and shocked stare are comical.

  5. I’ve got no problem with bicycle riders…just stay off the fucking streets with them, until you can do the speed limit. S I M P L E

  6. Are bicycles supposed to stop at a 4-way stop? Because I thought they were supposed to, and I started to go when I thought it was my turn and almost hit a guy on a bicycle who didn’t stop. Someone please make it clear to me, do they suddenly become pedestrians at 4-way stops?

  7. Even pedestrians should stop and look before crossing. Bicycles are subject to the same rules of the road as everyone else. Even some motorists drive like idiots so expecting all cyclists to be good riders as well may be overly optimistic.
