Where are the jobs in the city? I have been looking for six months now. All temporary contract SH__ jobs with no benefits and the gov’t wonders why they can’t keep people in this province. If you do take a contract job the permanent long term employees bully the crap out of you and expect you to work with no breaks or summer vacation while the boss emails you from the beach while they, you know, “work from home.” Fire the lazies and give the rest of us that want to work a chance. —Farewell to Nova Scotia

There are tons of jobs around with Benefits and vacation if you are willing to work.
Odd, because when I check on Career Beacon there are 1170 jobs in HRM posted. On Monster there were over 50 pages of job postings for Halifax. The ESDC Job Bank shows 388 position posted for Halifax.
So, I feel you either aren’t looking, aren’t qualified or don’t want to work.

Most of these companies are actually just collecting resumes and aren’t hiring.
I have no idea why they do it but it is really annoying to see 1170 jobs in Halifax when in reality, it’s much much less than that. I saw the same thing on LinkedIn and not much of these jobs are actually open.
A good friends girlfriend just moved to Halifax from Vancouver. She’s a pastry chef and had a job lined up before she arrived. She literally arrived Sunday and started working on Monday. Maybe it’s time to take one of those SH_ jobs so that you can pay to improve your skill set. It’s not easy but it yields better results than whining online.

I had to leave Halifax to actually get a good job here. No one would hire until I went out of province, got some experience and moved back for a job, with a company from out of province who had an office here. So not it’s really not that easy. Most people I know ended up having to leave to get good jobs, regardless of the profession is.
