was downtown last night for dinner with out of town folks and took a stroll afterwards along the harbourwalk and lower water street. magical night! the air was soft and warm, small boats quietly finding their moorings, patio diners laughing over candlelight, lovers of all ages cuddled on benches, toddlers in strollers asleep at last in the fresh air, those magnificent light wrapped trees, the lights of the oil refinery across the water looked like Disneyland…what a wonderful waterfront we have! —good dog walking

I really miss the 6 years I spent working in Historic Properties in the 80’s. Never got tired of walking along the water. For me, the refinery at night was always reminiscent of the mothership from Close Encounters.
in Winnipeg as a kid I lived on the edge of town across a field from the north star refinery. loved that place on a winter night. all sparkling across a dead white field with a zillion hard stars in the sky and northern lights.
I promise myself I will get downtown more often. last night was beautiful. my daughter works in a harbour front building, lucky gal. she sits out there for lunch and msgs me new ships coming in.
and its FREE to just stroll along and enjoy. I love this place, I just love it.
