3) Over a million men (& some women) served in the ranks of the S.S. They weren’t all Germans, they weren’t all volunteers and they weren’t all involved in the mass murder of European Jews. His ancestors could very well have been 16 year old conscripts, press-ganged Volksdeutsch, office clerks, or village police constables.
4) If you found his demeanor confrontational and his comments offensive you absolutely should have gotten his name and shield number and made a complaint. You didn’t mention this in your bitch so I have to assume that you didn’t.

For the record, I was writing a 29 page research paper at the time when this incident occurred. The cop started speaking German to me, and at that point I told him what I was working on.
Obviously I know the nature of the SS as an organization; I am a German history student. I actually told that officer about its size and that many members would’ve had absolutely zero involvement in any sort of Jewish persecution. Apparently to make a quick joke I’m meant to write out verbatim the long conversation I had with him. I was being neither hostile nor rude. I certainly don’t blame him for his family’s ancestry. I actually said to him that condemning the German’s as anti-semites is the same thing as condemning the Jews as racial impurities. Apparently none of you have ever had a cop be unduly hostile with you before. This happened to be a pretty funny incident. P.S. calling them Halifax’s secret police was a JOKE. You people take yourselves way too seriously. Why don’t you just call up Harper and take him out for a beer with your pro-aggressive police perspective.
Furthermore, I was a partial witness to the tragic murder on Gottingen street last night. I didn’t see the violent altercation, but I saw the assailant as well as the victims friend immediately after. The cop who initially took my statement was the very same SS descendent. He was lovely this time. Super pumped I was willing to help, and was totally amicable to me the whole time. I am always nice to police officers, it would seem silly to be otherwise as they can arrest you.
