I sent out a pile of wedding invitations about 2 weeks before the mail strike went on. A large amount of them never reached their destination locally but some did reach Chile?

Seriously? Did a Canada Post employee throw out some of the mail in spite of the impending strike? I’d like to think not but it makes no sense otherwise. Still – it makes me consider delivering your picket lines some coffee with creative flavour shots. —Bridezilla

  1. There were rotating strikes prior to the lockout. So I imagine your invites within Canada got slowed then stopped. For the ones that made it to the border, it was free sailing.

  2. Or maybe they were delivered and nobody wants to go to the wedding.

I’ll take that back if you tell me it isn’t a big money / prezzie grab and that you’re asking for charitable donations in lieu of gifts.

  3. “Did a Canada Post employee throw out some of the mail…” – Quite possible OB.

Several dozen of my wedding invites never made it to the adressees. Found out when a freind asked why they weren’t invited, frig…had to make a shitload of phone calls to find out who didn’t get one.

  4. I agreed pg. It’s an industry. It’s outdated. Just go do it if you must, have a nice party later and do something non-stupid with the money you would have flushed.

  5. why the fuck do you think they call it snail mail o.p.? it takes fucking forever to get to where it’s going, even if only the next street over. someone did a test once, and mail for china, got there before the local shit did. at the adress next door to them. wonderful, just fucking wonderful.

  6. Wow! Yeah!

I don’t have cable so I’m hoping it’s out on DVD? I have seen Cake Boss though.

    Lordy!

  7. sometimes i feel like an alien from another planet or that i’m on an episode of candid camera

  8. OP I’m not sure what the issue is but I don’t receive half my mail either for some reason.
I also mailed something to my brother in toronto ( a ticket for a show) and he never got it either. I mailed it using Canada post and he never received it.
I changed all my bills to e-billing. Some things I just can’t change and have to receive by mail. I don’t and I have to keep calling the providers for updates.
Sometimes they also place them in the wrong mailbox. That I don’t understand. I checked the envelope several times and it has the proper address on it but I guess the postal delivery person just didn’t feel like reading (or can’t read)!

  9. Eh, what was it, about a month of strike/lockout and when it resumed I recieved a whopping two pieces of mail. Yeah it hurt me a lot lol.

  10. we have received some flyers at home and the shoppe. we do rely on the mail but not to pay our bills

  11. I have recieved 2 flyers since the posties supposedly went back to work.
Where is my phone bill ?
My bank & credit card statements ?

I think the posties have worked out how many coffee breaks they missed while on strike & are taking them all at once !
Which means I’ll probably see some real mail by the end of next week.

  12. according to my sources, they are only allowed to deliver two bags of mail, even tho there is a backlog. union rules or management…i don’t know

  13. i do trust you sweet thang^^i’d love it if you could drop by the shop sometime

  14. I’m house-sitting in Shad Bay for a week… then I’ll be house sitting in Hali for a couple of weeks… would love to drop by then! 😀

  15. Missed you too… long friggin’ story… may disappear for a few weeks in July, but I’ll be back! XD

  16. It’s not a great story… involves nasty people, having my life threatened and other ‘good’ stuff… but at least it’s made me bitter ;D
