So I put three pieces of plywood in my garbage. I checked the dimensions and they are way smaller than the size (four feet) or weight limit (75 lbs)… seems like a simple enough task to just put it in the truck. But noooo. I get a fail sticker. Seems they will take five heavy bundles, but not three lighter pieces. Call the lady at 311 and she suggests putting them in a plastic bag. Great work, guys. —Can’t they just pick up the friggin’ garbage

I just bought a house and am learning the joys of the HRM garbage system. This is what we pay taxes for FFS, just pick up the damn trash. Why the hell should I have to sort through it create jobs and have someone else do it, I have enough to worry about.
When I get rejected stuff, I just put it in a black garbage bag and away it goes the next garbage day.
I once placed 4 full green garbage bags into clear plastic ones. They took it, all on the same day.
It actually gets worse. I got a letter from the city claiming I had been putting the wrong items into the wrong bags and outlined which bags go where (I can tell you where they should stick their GD bags!) and of course, threatened to fine me if it continues. I never felt my privacy so invaded, I mean really, they looked in the bags, took notes and wrote a letter? This is someone’s job? I use the same THREE different bags I’m supposed to! My tax dollars at work smh. This city needs to get its priorities in check.
