Hey, what’s up with the drinking water in the north end? For the last week or so it has been developing a smell that is making it harder to drink. The Water Commission said only that “there was a problem in the north end” (after they tried to suggest it was just a problem with our hot water heater) but offered no other details. We live on Maynard Street. Anyone else getting the funk on tap? Anyone have any more info as to what is going on? —WaterTF?

Maybe your cups are stinky?
from the earliest time that i can remember, water in the north end tasted like shit.
So BLOW ME, was the shit you tasted yours or someone elses?
Yeah, it’s not supposed to be dangerous.. It’s nasty though. I had to buy some big jugs of water.
probly tasted better than some dog’s cock, right harper, you wouldd know that, ya douche.
It’s “geosmin” – from wikipedia: Geosmin is produced by several classes of microbes, including cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) and actinobacteria (especially Streptomyces), and released when these microbes die.
Apparently harmless – see: http://www.halifax.ca/hrwc/
harmless != appetizing…
may want to think about a brita or something though….
I boil my water and let cool before filtering.
call me paranoid, whatever…
I always laugh at people who wait in line to use the filtered water at work for their tea kettle when the sink is right there.
tip (for clear cubes and the ‘novelty’ ice trays, you boil the water first)
didn’t know of this: the water’s great on creighton
