I had my dear grandmother visit for a month this summer. She uses adult diapers, which are 10 times stinkier than a baby’s diaper. Halifax requires Haligonians to put their diapers in the clear bag.

HALIFAX ONLY PICKS UP MY GARBAGE ONCE EVERY TWO WEEKS! WTF!? THIS SHIT HAS TO GO SOMEWHERE! DON’T JUST LEAVE IT ON THE STREET!

I pity the neighbour that parks his motorcycle down wind from my garbage cans. —Wrinkled Nose

  1. Definitely a real (and potentially embarrassing) problem with the clear garbage bag policy. I’m not against good waste management and garbage policies, but ours does make it tough for situations like yours.

Cat litter is not as major a problem, but certainly inconvenient. I scoop into reclaimed grocery bags, then have to save them all up for two weeks and then put them all into a single black bag that gets way too heavy. I could use multiple clear bags, to split up the weight, but then I’m not allowed to use the grocery bags but would need to leave the litter loose. It gets gross no matter how good a routine you work out.

Diaper users (of any ages) have my sincerest sympathies!

  2. Nobody cares about what’s in ur garbage. If they do then they are not worth being concerned about. Clear bags or dark bags – it’s shit and it’s going to smell. If it’s a problem take the bags to the landfill yourself. Or if you want more frequent collection maybe speak to your councillor and advise that you would like to pay more taxes.
