A new interchange to Larry Uteck Blvd is being built on the 102 just past the Kearney Lake exit. There is blasting and lots of heavy equipment, so they close down the right lane outbound. There are plenty of cones and signs indicating that you must merge into the left lane. However, you are not forced to merge for some time. Here is here the nasty Halifax driver mentality kicks in.
Reasonable drivers see the signs and cones, and attempt to merge left at a point before they are forced to do so. However, for many, usually SUV drivers or young guys in riceburners, this is too good an opportunity to be a shithead to pass up. So they slide right, past the merging traffic, and boot it all the way down to where the lane closes off, then force their way in at that point. Of course, other drivers are idiotic enough to let them in. The result: the line in the left lane slows to a standstill. Why can’t some drivers around here just play nice?

I also love the people who, even though you are trying to merge at a reasonable time, speed up to close the gap and yell at you through closed windows that “YOU’RE NOT GETTING IN FRONT OF ME” and I’m sure some other unpleasant obscenities. Yes, this is dedicated to you, Mr. White K-Car. It was back near the beginning of the construction zone. Thanks for giving me a good laugh at the road rage. Good times.

I drive the 102 all the time & what gets me about this nightmare is you have to slow up for the over pass repairs being done at the exit just before you get to he airport, outbound to 80 kliks, & most people keep flying low. Then next one which is between the Enfeild & Elmsdale has no speed reduction & everyone slows down ???WTF???
Not too mention all the road work at Miller Lake , where they’ve stripped off the top couple of layers of asphault & driving on it is like driving on marbles, you want to try manovering on that in the rain !

It’s got nothing to do with ‘nasty Halifax driver mentality’…I’ve witnessed the same thing while driving elsewhere in Nova Scotia, PEI, New Brunswick, Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts (gods, these people are the WORST!), Quebec, Ontario…
Some drivers will be self entitled impatient idiots, regardless of their city, province, state or country.
I agree it happens elsewhere but I have never seen it as bad as in Halifax. It happens all the time. Here you are sitting in line crawling along and some asshole blows by you in the passing lane. You then see him near the front of the line with his signal light on expecting someone to let him in. Not only is this a total piss off to those who have waited, it slows down the line even more so because some idiot will always let them in. I will let ignorant fucker hit my car before I let him in.
